BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Head coach Kerrie Beach and the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will conclude their Mid-American Conference schedule against the Central Michigan Chippewas, Friday (Feb. 27) at 7:00 p.m. in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The Falcons look to continue to soar high after a season high 193.750 team score at last weekend's meet against No. 16 Ohio State (Feb. 22).

THIS WEEK'S MATCH-UP ON THE MAT
Falcons vs. Chippewas • (2/27 • 7:00 p.m.)
The Falcons will wrap-up the 2009 MAC schedule against Central Michigan ... the Chippewas are currently tied for second in the MAC with an overall record of 8-2 and a 3-1 record in conference competition ... in their last meet the Chippewas defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies 195.350-192.475 ... the Chippewas lead the Falcons 21-13 in the all-time series ... the Falcons are currently on a two-meet winning streak as they defeated the Chippewas 193.350-192.775 last season and 189.325-187.950 in 2006.
GUY EARNS SECOND STRAIGHT MAC GYMNAST OF THE WEEK HONOR
Junior Breanne Guy, Bradenton, Florida native earned her second straight Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week honor announced by the conference office (Feb. 24).
Guy had her second straight record breaking meet against the Buckeyes (Feb. 22) winning two of four events finishing second in the other two events recording a 9.800 or better in every event. Guy captured her second consecutive all-around title with a career high 39.300, the third best score in program history and third best score in the MAC. Guy stuck a 9.825 and first place finish on vault, her second consecutive event win on vault and fourth of the season and tumbled her way to a career high 9.875 on floor, hitting every combination in her routine and tying the eighth best score in BG program history. Guy led the Falcons' floor line-up to a season high 49.100 defeating No. 16 Ohio State on the event (48.145). She swung her way to a 9.800 and second place finish on bars leading the Falcon bar line-up to season best, 48.700, and recorded a second place finish in beam with a 9.800.
BREWER RANKED 27TH IN THE REGION ON BARS
Amber Brewer, ranked 27th in the region on bars and tied for the sixth best score in the MAC, recorded her third consecutive top-three finish this against No. 16 Ohio State (Feb. 22) swinging her way to a 9.775 and tied for a third place finish, matching her career high. Brewer helped lead the Falcon bar line-up to a season best 48.700, which helped the Falcons record a team season high of 193.750, BG's highest team score since 2004-05. She has now landed in the top-three in four meets on the season with one first place finish, two second place finishes and one third place finish with a 9.650 or better in every meet.
FALCONS FALL JUST SHY OF NO. 16 OHIO STATE
Only 0.425 of a point separated the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team and No. 16 Ohio State, as the Falcons fell just shy of the Buckeyes, 194.175-193.750 (Feb. 22) in Anderson Arena on senior day. Despite the loss the Falcons recorded a season high team score, nearly a point higher than their previous season best set last weekend against Western Michigan (Feb. 13) and the best team score of any squad since the 2004-05 season.
FALCONS AGAINST THE MAC
The Falcons own four of the six all-time series against their MAC opponents. The Falcons lead Ball State (21-12), Eastern Michigan (18-18), Northern Illinois (9-5) and Western Michigan (24-7-1). The only MAC teams to lead the Orange and Brown in their all-time series are Central Michigan (13-21) and Kent State (11-39-1).
FALCONS HONOR THEIR SENIORS
The Falcons sent their seniors, Katie Follett and Jenna Wirtanen out in style as the squad took care of business as a team and as individuals recording eight top-three finishes. In her final home meet of her collegiate career Follett came up big matching her career best on beam with a 9.700, tying for a fourth place finish. Wirtanen finished her final home collegiate meet with a career high 9.800 on floor tying for a fifth place finish.
FALCONS BUILD A NEW NEST IN 2009
The Falcon gymnasts built a new nest in Anderson Arena for all home competitions starting in 2009. This was the first season that all home gymnastics meets were held in Anderson Arena. The Falcons finished their first season in Anderson Arena with a 2-2 record. The Orange and Brown kicked off their home schedule with a 189.575-187.325 win over Ball State (Jan. 18) and ended their season in Anderson Arena against No. 16 Ohio State (Feb. 22) with a season high team score, 193.750, the highest team score since the 2005.
FALCONS SWEEP WEEKLY MAC HONORS
After defeating the Broncos, 192.975-191.600 (Feb. 13) and leading their team to a season high team score and season high scores in three of four events the Falcons swept the weekly Mid-American Conference gymnastic honors announced by the conference office (Feb. 17). Junior Breanne Guy was named MAC Gymnast of the Week, while senior Jenna Wirtanen was named MAC Specialist of the Week. This is both Guy's and Wirtanen's first career MAC weekly honor.
GUY'S CAREER HIGH ALL-AROUND EARNS HER MAC GYMNAST OF THE WEEKE
Breanne Guy was named MAC Gymnast of the Week (Feb. 17) after capturing the all-around crown with a career high 39.175, the third best all-around score in BG history and her second all-around win of the season against the Broncos (Feb.13). She won three of four events, tying for second in the fourth event. Guy placed first on vault landing a 9.800, first on bars swinging to a career high and tying BG's eighth best all-time program score with a 9.825, first on beam for the second consecutive meet with a 9.775 and tied for second on floor with a 9.775, tying her season best. She has now won seven event titles and two all-around titles on the season.
WIRTANEN VAULTS TO MAC SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
Jenna Wirtanen was named MAC Specialist of the Week (Feb. 17) after having her best meet of the season against the Broncos (Feb. 13). Wirtanen vaulted to a second place finish as she stuck a 9.750 on the vault. She also helped the Falcon floor line-up record a season high score of 48.375 as she tumbled her way to a 9.700, tying her season high.
FALCONS BUCK BRONCOS, 192.975-191.600
The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team was able to find their groove as they bucked the Western Michigan Broncos, 192.975-191.600, recording a season high team score and season high scores in three of four events (Feb. 13). The Falcons move to 2-4 overall and a 2-3 record in the Mid-American Conference. The Orange and Brown were led by junior Breanne Guy who recorded a career high and the third best all-around score in BG history with a 39.175, including three straight event wins and a second place finish.
FALCONS CONTINUE TO CORRAL BRONCOS AT HOME
The Falcons continued their long history of corralling the Broncos on their home turf as they remain undefeated, 19-0 against Western Michigan at home. The Falcons defeated the Broncos 192.975-191.600 (Feb. 13).
