Sexton Named Honorable Mention All-CCHA

FARMINGTON HILLS, MICH. - Bowling Green State University sophomore forward Dan Sexton earned honorable mention honors from the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, the league office announced today. Sexton had the seventh-highest point total among the forward in the league. The top three point totals earn first team honors with the next three highest point totals earning second team accolades.
The honorable mention team is comprised of the next six highest vote-getters, regardless of position, after the top six forward, top four defensemen, and two goalies are placed on the first and second teams.
Sexton played in all 38 games for the Falcons this season and led the team with 39 points (tied for fifth in the CCHA) on 17 goals (fifth in the CCHA) and 22 assists (tied for eighth in the league). All three totals were career bests. Sexton was tied for second in the CCHA with two shorthanded goals and tied for fifth with 18 (5-13) power play points. Hie three game-winning goals was tied for ninth in the CCHA.
In 28 league games, the Apple Valley, Minn. native, led the team with 28 points (tied for seventh in the CCHA) on 12 goals (tied for seventh in the league) and 16 assists (tied for 11th in the CCHA). He was also among the league leaders in CCHA play in power play points with 13 (4-9; tied for eighth).
The 5-10, 166-pounder had a goal in 14 games this season and an assists in 14 contests. He had at least one point in 24 games. He had a season-high three points in the season opener against RIT (0-3) and again against Ohio State (1-2) in the Jan. 9 game.
Sexton has 60 (24-36) points in 76 career games over the last two seasons.
Senior Brandon Svendsen (Roseville, Minn.) also received votes from the league coaches at the forward position. Svendsen was second on the team with 30 points (12-18).
The teams were selected by a vote of the league's head coaches and are based on performance in conference games. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players.
