Bowling Green, Ohio -
The Falcon Bash, the largest fundraiser for the Bowling Green State University athletic department, takes place Friday, May 29. There is still time to register for the event. All proceeds go towards the operating budgets for all 18 varsity sports and the day will be filled with opportunities to interact with the entire department, from coaches to administrators to student-athletes.
This year's event takes place on Friday, May 29 at Forrest Creason Golf Course and the Sebo Athletic Center. The golf shotgun start begins at 1 p.m. followed by Evening at the Bash, from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
There are several ways you can join the fun and show your support.
Sign-up for the All-Day Package ($215)
• This includes an 18-hole round of golf, golf cart, driving range, lunch, Evening at the Bash entry, and the beverage package.
• Golfers will receive several gifts (including a free golf club) as part of the registration and will have the opportunity to win a number of prizes while on the course, including the following hole-in-one prizes: a new car, TV, a new set of irons, or airfare for two in the continental U.S.
• You do not need to have a full team to sign-up--individual registrations are welcome!
Join us for the Evening at the Bash ($85; additional $15 for a beverage package)
• This includes entry to the event with a cash bar (complimentary soda and water).
• This event is like none other—we will have hors d’oeuvres featuring local restaurants, casino games with celebrity dealers, Wii games with celebrity competitors, and a SamB’s Peregine Jazz Lounge featuring the musical talent of former Falcon Paul Miles.
The feature events will surely be the silent and live auctions. One-of-a-kind items include (these are just a sampling!):
• A Michael Phelps(8-time Olympic Gold Medalist) signed cap
• Autographed football by Super Bowl MVP, James Harrison
• Signed bats by former Falcons and now pro baseball players, Nolan Reimold, Andy Tracy, and Burke Badenhop
• The opportunity to be a color commentator alongside Todd Walker for part of a home football and men’s basketball game
• A doubles tennis match against BGSU tennis team players, with Coach Penny Dean umpiring. The match is followed by dinner with the players and Coach Dean, who will critique your game.
• Autographed baseballs by World Series Champs—Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and MVP Cole Hamels
• All-you-can-eat BBQ ribs, cooked with Big Nate’s (BG great, Nate Thurmond) BBQ sauce, with Coach Louis Orr at Al-Mar Lanes.
• A round of golf and dinner with the men’s and women’s golf coaches, Garry Winger and Stephanie Young
• A special school visit with two of our BGSU football players joining your child (or grandchild or niece/nephew) for lunch at his/her school
Purchase a golf ball or two for the Falcon Golf Ball Drop ($20 each)
• As the Night at the Bash draws to a close, all purchased golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter onto the field at Doyt Perry Stadium. Should your ball land a hole-in-one, you win $1000 (only the first ball in wins the grand prize). $100 goes to the ball that lands closest to the pin, $75 to balls two through five that are closest to the pin, $50 for the sixth-closest to the pin, and $50 for the ball that lands furthest from the pin.
• Don’t delay—only a limited number of golf balls will be sold!
