Falcons Dig Out Of Early Hole For Win Over Robert Morris

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green volleyball team faced adversity for the first time during the 2009 season against Robert Morris and the Falcons came through in a big way Friday night at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. Bowling Green battled back after dropping the opening set to defeat the host team 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-15 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
After losing a nip-and-tuck opening set, the Falcons turned to seniors Corey Domek and Kaitlin Jackson to pull the team through. The duo combined for nine kills and a .750 attack percentage in the second set and Bowling Green hit .538 in the frame to even up the match and build momentum.
From there, the Falcons cruised to wins in sets three and four to remain unbeaten in the tournament and on the year. Bowling Green held Robert Morris' hitters to an .083 attack percentage over the final two sets, including a -.033 mark in the deciding set.
Corey Domek had a match-high 17 kills and added nine digs and two aces. Emily Kauth and Shari Luther added 11 kills apiece and Luther went without an attack error in 26 swings. Alex Zlabis had 18 of Bowling Green's 61 digs and Allison Kearney handed out 52 assists.
Bowling Green will be back in action for two more matches at the tournament Saturday. The Falcons take on Howard at 3 p.m. and Duquesne at 7 p.m. Howard lost both of its matches on opening day of competition, while Duquesne went unbeaten in two matches.
