Freshman Emily Reuland advances to semifinals of her singles flight
Freshman Emily Reuland advanced to the semifinal round of her singles flight Saturday afternoon (Oct. 23), as the Bowling Green State University tennis team completed second-day action at the ITA Second Chance in Kalamazoo, Mich. The event, hosted by Western Michigan, is being held at the West Hills Athletic Club.

In addition to the Falcons and the host Broncos, the tournament participants include players from Chicago State, UIC, Marquette, Michigan State, Northern Ilinois and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Reuland posted a straight-sets win over WMU's April Kerr in second-round singles action, winning by scores of 6-2 and 7-5. the BG freshman, now 9-3 in singles play this fall, will face UIC's Maria Kovaleva in semifinal-round action of her 16-team singles bracket on Sunday (Oct. 24).
BG's other freshman, Nikki Chiricosta, made quick work of UWM's Kristen Kurrer in the consolation round of her bracket. Chiricosta lost just one game in her Saturday victory (6-0, 6-1).
Sophomore Maddy Eccleston was defeated by Western's Mila Shustova in second-round play on Saturday, while classmate Mary Hill also dropped her second-round match, against Ilinca Cristescu of UIC. Senior Christine Chiricosta fall to the Flames' Elisa Simonetti in Saturday action.
In doubles play, each of BGSU's two teams played just one match on Saturday, after winning in the first round but losing in the second round on Friday afternoon/evening. The BGSU duo of Hill and Nikki Chiricosta was victorious on Saturday, downing a NIU duo by an 8-4 outcome, while the team of Eccleston and Christine Chiricosta suffered a narrow 8-6 loss to the MSU duo of Lingl/Guentart.
The ITA Second Chance concludes on Sunday, and marks the Falcons' final action of the fall schedule.
