With the win, the Falcons improve to 10-1 on the season. BGSU has posted the best start in program history. The Lady Govs drop to 2-9 on the year.
Senior Lauren Prochaska was 6-of-9 from long distance, en route to a game-high 22 points. She tied her career high for three-point field goals made in a game.
Senior Jen Uhl joined Prochaska in double figures with 16 points, while sophomore Chrissy Steffen had nine. Steffen made three three-pointers, while Uhl was 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Uhl played a season-high 28 minutes in the win, and tied her career best in both assists (four) and steals (three).
Meghan Bussabarger, who missed much of the first half due to foul trouble, led the Lady Govs with 14 points on the night. Bussabarger scored 12 of those points in the second half.
Prochaska had 17 of her points in the second half, going 5-of-6 from long distance in the final period.
The lead changed hands five times in the early going. The hosts scored the first four points of the night, prompting BGSU coach Curt Miller to take a timeout. Uhl hit a three-pointer to get the Falcons on the scoreboard at the 18:14 mark, but Nicole Olszewski answered with a triple of her own for a 7-3 APSU lead.
Prochaska's first triple of the night cut the lead to one, and Steffen fed Uhl for a layup and an 8-7 lead. The teams traded points over the next few minutes, as Uhl hit a pair of free throws, and converted another layup at the 13:24 mark. The latter shot gave the Brown and Orange a 12-11 advantage. Uhl scored nine of BGSU's first 12 points.
Steffen took a pass from senior Maggie Hennegan and knocked down a trey for a 15-11 lead. Soon after, Bussabarger was called for her second foul of the game, but remained on the floor.
Senior Chelsea Albert split a pair of free throws, and senior Tracy Pontius spotted an open Steffen for a left-elbow three-pointer in transition. BGSU led, 19-12.
The Lady Govs responded with a basket, but Uhl fired a cross-court pass to Pontius for another BG triple and a 22-14 lead.
Bussabarger was called for an offensive foul -- her third foul of the game -- with 10:18 left before halftime, and headed to the bench.
The score remained unchanged for the next several minutes, before the Falcons scored on the fast-break once again. Pontius fired a pass forward to Hennegan. The senior caught the pass in the paint and, with a defender on her back, kicked the ball out to Steffen for another trey and a 25-14 advantage.
A few minutes after that, Uhl hit a three-ball off of another Pontius pass, and BG's lead was 12 points, at 28-16. Neika Smith answered with a runner for the home team, but Pontius hit two free throws, and junior Jessica Slagle's entry pass led to a Uhl layup and a 32-18 advantage.
In the final seconds of the half, Prochaska took an inbounds pass from Slagle and knocked down a right-side jumper, giving the Brown and Orange a 34-18 lead at the break.
The Lady Govs went on a 9-0 run to begin the second half, getting back to within just seven points. Bussabarger scored five of those points, including a three-pointer to finish the run and get the hosts within 34-27. But, Prochaska answered with a three-pointer, her first of five in the half, and the lead never fell below double digits again.
Prochaska's shot began a 13-0 run for the Brown and Orange. Uhl came up with a steal, then fed Hennegan for a layup on the ensuing possession. Prochaska stole the ball several moments later and, on a two-on-one break, hit Slagle with a pass, resulting in an easy layup. Then, Steffen came up with a rebound after an APSU miss and fired a pass ahead to Prochaska for another transition three-pointer.
Prochaska hit another triple at the 11:22 mark, this time off of a Slagle inbounds pass, and the Falcons' lead was 20 points, 47-27.
The hosts responded with a 7-0 run of their own, but yet another Prochaska triple gave the Falcons a 50-35 advantage with just over eight minutes remaining.
Several minutes later, a 12-0 BGSU run removed any doubt about the game's outcome. Uhl hit a layup, and redshirt sophomore Danielle Havel converted a pair of free throws. Then, Uhl missed a layup, but saved the ball from going out of bounds, scooping a pass to Havel for an easy layup and a 58-37 lead.
Just seconds after entering the game for the first time, freshman Jillian Halfhill knocked down a triple try from the left corner. After an APSU miss and with the Falcons running, Prochaska pulled up for yet another long-distance shot, giving the visitors a 64-37 lead with 4:08 left in the contest.
For the game, BGSU was 14-of-30 from three-point range, for a 46.7-percent success rate. BG went 10-of-26 on shots from inside the arc on Saturday.
Overall, BGSU had a 42.9% field-goal rate, and the Falcon defense held the Lady Govs to just a 14-of-52 performance (26.9%). APSU went 3-of-13 from three-point range.
On her birthday, Havel scored six points in the game, while Pontius had five. Sophomore Allison Papenfuss led the Falcons with six rebounds.
The Lady Govs had advantages in several categories, with 40 rebounds to BG's 34, and 11 free throws made to the Falcons' seven.
BG committed a total of 17 turnovers, but the Falcons' defense forced APSU into a total of 24 turnovers on the night.
BGSU now takes a break for fall semester exams, before returning to action on Tuesday, Dec. 21, with a home game vs. Canisius.
FALCON NOTES

* Senior Lauren Prochaska, who increased her streak of consecutive free throws made to an NCAA Division-I record 67 in Thursday's (Dec. 9) win at Western Kentucky, did not attempt a free throw against APSU ... the Falcons attempted just eight on Saturday, the team's lowest total since the season opener at Evansville (Nov. 12).
