Day One Results
OXFORD, Ohio—With just one night of the 2010 Mid-American Conference Championships complete, the Bowling Green State University swim team has already shattered a school record.
With only two relay events to swim on day one of four at the MAC Championships, it was a quick meet at the Nixon Aquatic Center in Oxford, Ohio. The BGSU women's swim team concluded the first day with a total of 26 points (tying for seventh with Ball State) and a new school record.
The Falcons earned all 26 points when the relay squad consisting of senior Meg Richardson, freshman Emily Bennet, sophomore Vicky Yu and freshman Emily Waller took sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay, touching in for the team's fastest time of the season at 7:23.27. BGSU's time in tonight's race demolished the previously held school record of 7:26.14 that was set by Alisha Yee, Vicky Yu, Megan Bomicino and Sami Jordan at the 2009 MAC Championships.
BGSU in Day One Events:
200-yard medley relay—Disqualified
Alexa Harris, Alexis Kain, Sarah Burston and Sarah Reinink
800-yard freestyle—7:23.27

With day one complete, the Toledo Rockets are in first place while the Ohio Bobcats are in second and the 2009 defending MAC Champions, the Miami Redhawks are in third. Akron, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, BGSU and Ball State trail in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh places, respectively.

Preliminary heats for day two events are set to begin at 11:00 a.m. while finals heats will commence at 7:00 p.m. Day two events include the 500-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley, the 50-yard freestyle, one-meter diving and the 200-yard freestyle relay (championship heat) which will take place during the finals portion of the day.
