CHAMPIONSHIP-GAME REMATCH
Saturday's game is a rematch of the 2009 Kraft MAC Tournament's championship contest ... last March 15, the Cardinals pulled out a 55-51 win over the Falcons at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland ... it marked BSU's first MAC Tournament victory over the Brown and Orange in six tries.
HOUSE OF HORRORS
Since the start of the 2003-04 season, the Falcons have played a total of 123 games (regular-season and tournament) against MAC schools ... BG has lost only 17 of those 123 games ... just two of those losses have come by double digits, and the Falcons have dropped only one game by 20 or more points ... that lopsided loss came the last time the Brown and Orange ventured to Worthen Arena, as BSU came away with a 68-47 decision (Jan. 26, 2008).
HOUSE OF HORRORS II
In the eight-and-a-half year span since Curt Miller became BGSU's head coach, the Falcons have lost a total of eight games by 20 or more points to a MAC opponent ... seven of those games came during Miller's first two years at the helm ... all eight of those 20-point setbacks took place on the road, and no fewer than three have come at Worthen Arena ... the Cardinals downed the Falcons by lopsided margins during the games in Indiana in each of Miller's first two seasons, in addition to the 2007-08 meeting mentioned above ... the complete list of BGSU-Ball State series meetings can be found on page 11.
GEEZ, ARE YOU GOING TO LIST ANY POSITIVE NOTES?
Well, the fact that BG has lost only 17 of the last 123 MAC games is a positive ... but, we understand what you're saying ... how about this ... the Falcons' 85-67 win over Northern Illinois on Tuesday night (Feb. 2) was the 104th victory for the team's three fourth-year seniors ... even if BGSU doesn't win another game this year (oops, more negativity), those three players – Tara Breske, Laura Bugher and Sarah Clapper – will have finished their careers with an average of 26.0 wins per season ... BGSU's other senior, Tamika Nurse, is in her first playing season with the Falcons after transferring from the University of Oregon.
NO TURNOVERS, PLEASE
The Falcons turned the ball over just eight times, including only twice in the second half, against Northern Illinois ... that marked BGSU's lowest turnover total of the season, and the first single-digit total in that category since the final game of 2008-09 ... BG had eight turnovers against Indiana in the WNIT last year (March 26, 2009) ... the last time the Falcons had fewer turnovers was earlier last season (Dec. 28, 2008), when BG turned the ball over just seven times against Gardner-Webb, in the first game of the Dayton Flyer Classic.
BUGHER, HENNEGAN EARN ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS
A pair of BGSU student-athletes were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 4 Team, it was announced Thursday (Feb. 4) ... senior Laura Bugher and redshirt junior Maggie Hennegan each were named to the second team ... both Bugher and Hennegan maintain a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average ... the District 4 team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee ... to be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher ... Bugher and Hennegan were the only two MAC players named to any of the eight district teams.
WISH IT WASN'T THE SHORTEST MONTH
The Falcons' game vs. Northern Illinois on Tuesday, obviously, was the team's first February contest this season ... BGSU has enjoyed great success in that month in recent years, having gone 7-0 in February of both 2008 and 2009 ... in fact, the win over NIU means that the Falcons have won the last 16 February contests, and have captured 33 of the last 34 games played in the second month of the year ... BG's only February loss since the 2004-05 season came in '07, when Ohio downed the Falcons by three points.
PROCHASKA HITS THE 1,500 MARK
Lauren Prochaska, just a junior, currently sits in seventh place on the BGSU career scoring list ... Prochaska now has a total of 1,502 points in her collegiate career ... she passed no fewer than four players on that list in the Miami game on Jan. 19, moving ahead of Chris Tuttle (1,420 pts.), Lori Albers (1,424), Charlotta Jones (1,430) and Talita Scott (1,432) on that night ... Prochaska's next target on the list is sixth-place Liz Honegger, who had 1,522 points from 2003-07 ... Prochaska is averaging 16.5 points per game, the second-highest average in BGSU annals, in her storied Falcon career.
TREY BIEN! PROCHASKA NEARING THE TOP OF THIS LIST
A pair of juniors are moving up the BGSU career list for three-point field goals made, with one of those two players nearing the school record ... Lauren Prochaska, who hit four triples vs. Northern Illinois, is in sole possession of second place on that list ... with 209 long-range makes in her career to date, she is only seven behind school record-holder Liz Honegger ... Honegger made 216 triples from 2003-07 ... Tracy Pontius, in just her second year as a starter, ranks ninth on the list ... Pontius now has 136 threes in her career.
LAST TIME OUT
Senior co-captain Tara Breske scored 16 points to pace four BGSU double-digit scorers in an 18-point win over Northern Illinois, 85-67, Tuesday night (Feb. 2) at Anderson Arena ... junior Lauren Prochaska had 15 points, including a team-high four three-pointers, to surpass the 1,500-point mark for her career ... senior Tamika Nurse scored four points and had a team-leading five assists, while junior Maggie Hennegan had 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists ... Hennegan and Prochaska tied for team rebounding honors as BGSU held a 41-34 advantage on the glass ... Mauvolyene Adams had game-high totals of 19 points and nine rebounds for the Huskies, who had five players in double figures in the scoring column ... the Falcons never trailed, but the game was tied three times in the early stages ... a jumper by Breske gave the home team an 8-6 lead, putting the Falcons on top for good ... BG surged to a 22-10 lead, but Northern proceeded to score nine-straight points ... then, though, the hosts scored eight points in a row to take a double-digit lead ... BG led by 14 points, 43-29, at the half ... Northern scored four of the first six points of the second half, but the Falcons then held the Huskies without a basket for nearly seven minutes ... BGSU scored 14 consecutive points, essentially putting the game away ... that run began with back-to-back triples from Prochaska, and concluded with BG holding a 59-33 lead ... the Falcons turned the ball over a season-low eight times.

BGSU-BALL STATE TIES
• If it seems as though Falcon coach Curt Miller has worked with everyone in the coaching profession, that's only because it's true ... okay, that's a slight exaggeration ... but, Miller has ties with a great many coaches ... Miller and Ball State head coach Kelly Packard worked together at Colorado State ... the two were on head coach Tom Collen's staff together in 1998-99 ... Collen (a BGSU graduate), Miller and Packard guided that '98-99 team to a 33-3 record and a trip to the "Sweet 16."
• Miller also coached with BSU assistant coach Carter Shaw in Fort Collins ... Shaw was on the Colorado State staff from 2000-02 ... Miller was at CSU from '98-99 through the 2000-01 season, prior to taking the BGSU job.
• BSU assistant coach Lindsay Shade, like Falcon associate head coach Jennifer Roos, is a Davidson graduate and played basketball for the Wildcats ... Shade is a 2004 Davidson grad ... Roos played several sports for DC, and was an assistant coach from 1993-2001 ... Shade was a freshman during Roos' last season there, before Roos became Miller's first hire at BGSU ... Roos is a member of the Davidson Athletics Hall of Fame.
MILLER REACHES 100 MAC WINS ...
BGSU's 83-71 win over Eastern Michigan (Jan. 23) was the 100th MAC victory in Falcon head coach Curt Miller's career ... entering the BSU game, Miller now has a career record of 102-35 in conference games as a head coach ... Miller, who holds the school records for overall and MAC wins, became just the seventh coach in MAC history – and the second fastest – to amass 100 league victories.
... AND APPROACHES 200 OVERALL WINS
BGSU head coach Curt Miller has a 197-78 overall record in his ninth year at the Falcon helm ... he has moved into third place on the MAC list for career wins, and is just four away from the 200 mark ... he trails only Kent State's Bob Lindsay and former Toledo coach Mark Ehlen on the MAC list ... Miller, who became the winningest coach in BGSU history two years ago, is looking to become only the second basketball coach at the school (men's or women's) to reach the 200-win mark ... the legendary Harold Anderson had a 367-193 (.655) record in 21 years at the helm of the BGSU men's program ... the lists of winningest MAC women's basketball coaches can be found in the PDF.

ANOTHER STRONG START
Despite the loss to Toledo, the Falcons got off to a pretty good start in MAC play ... BGSU started the conference schedule with a 7-0 record for the fourth time in the last five years ... believe it or not, the Brown and Orange got off to at least a 14-0 MAC start in three of the previous four seasons.
HOME COOKIN'
Tuesday's (Feb. 2) 85-67 win over Northern Illinois gives the Falcons a 11-0 record at venerable Anderson Arena this season to date ... BGSU has won 28 consecutive regular-season games at "The House That Roars" ... the last regular-season home loss for the Falcons came to Western Michigan, as the Broncos captured a 79-73 decision two years ago (Jan. 30, 2008).

WE MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE (THAT ROARS)
BGSU is 42-4 in MAC home games over the last five-plus seasons ... since the start of the 2004-05 season, the Falcons have gone a perfect 8-0 in MAC home games on two occasions, with a pair of 7-1 records and one 6-2 mark ... the Falcons are 6-0 in MAC games at Anderson Arena this year to date.
SENIORS SURPASS CENTURY MARK
The Falcons' 89-61 win at Kent State (Jan. 16) enabled BGSU's three fourth-year seniors, Tara Breske, Laura Bugher and Sarah Clapper, to reach a career milestone ... the group became the fifth in school history, and the fourth in a row, to be a part of at least 100 career wins at BGSU ... after the Northern Illinois game, the Falcons now have a 104-22 record since the trio joined the program ... the 2006-07 senior class that kick-started the Falcons' current run of success – Amber Flynn, Julie Gompers, Liz Honegger, Carin Horne, Ali Mann and Megan Thorburn – had a total of 103 wins ... Kate Achter and Whitney Taylor finished their playing careers in '07-08, posting a total of 108 victories ... and, last year's one-woman senior class, Lindsey Goldsberry, finished her career with a total of 114 wins, the most by any player (male or female) in MAC basketball history.
SENIORS HIT HALF-CENTURY MARK IN MAC PLAY
BGSU's fourth-year seniors – Tara Breske, Laura Bugher and Sarah Clapper – have won more than 50 MAC games in their careers ... heading into Saturday's game at Ball State, the Falcons are 51-6 in conference regular-season games since that trio came to campus ... the school record for MAC wins in a four-year span is 59, set by the 1986-89 teams and matched by the 2006-09 clubs.

PRODUCTIVE AT THE STRIPE
As mentioned, the Falcons are shooting a MAC-best .783 from the free-throw line this season ... last year, BGSU had a school-record FT percentage of .794, a rate that ranked fourth in the nation and was the 15th-highest figure in NCAA Division-I history ... individually, junior Lauren Prochaska is shooting .914 from the line this season to date, and was ranked third in the country (as of Jan. 31) ... last year, Prochaska led the nation with a .933 FT rate.
TAKING CARE OF THE BALL
It's no secret that a big key to offensive success is limiting turnovers ... if you can force your opponent to turn the ball over while keeping your own turnovers to a minimum, that's even better ... the Falcons, after turning the ball over at least 16 times in each of this season's first seven games, have had 15 or fewer turnovers in 13 of the last 16 contests, including a season-low eight in the win over Northern Illinois Tuesday (Feb. 2) ... the Falcons have a turnover margin of +3.9 overall and +6.8 in MAC games.
PASSING THEIR BOARDS
Last season, the Falcons had more rebounds than the opponent just 13 times in 34 games ... this year, BGSU has outrebounded the opposition 15 times in the first 23 contests, tying the opponent in that category in one additional game (Hartford) ... when outrebounding opponents, BG is 116-11 in the Curt Miller Era, including a 96-4 mark in the last five-plus seasons.
