The second game of the day will pit #13-seeded Liberty University against the #4 seed, the University of Kentucky. The Liberty-Kentucky game is scheduled to begin at approximately 2:30 p.m.
The two winners will advance to Monday night's second round, with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m. at Freedom Hall. The winner of that game heads to Kansas City, Mo., for the 'Sweet 16.'
Michigan State, like Bowling Green, is appearing in the NCAA Championships for the 10th time in program history. The Spartans are heading to the tourney for the seventh time in the last eight years.
The Spartans are 22-9 on the season, and MSU finished with a 12-6 record in the Big Ten. State saw a seven-game winning streak snapped with a 61-50 loss to Iowa in the semifinal round of the Big Ten Tournament. MSU is ranked 25th in the nation in both the USA Today ESPN and Associated Press polls, released Monday (March 15).
BGSU is 27-6 on the season, and the Falcons went 14-2 in Mid-American Conference regular-season play to earn the league's outright title for the sixth consecutive season. The Brown and Orange take an eight-game winning streak into the Michigan State game, with the last three of those wins coming at the MAC Tournament in Cleveland. BG downed Miami, Akron and Toledo to capture the league tourney title. The Falcons received three votes in this week's AP poll.
