The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team will hold its annual banquet on Saturday, May 1, at Olscamp Hall on the BGSU campus. The evening's events will begin with a social at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. with the program to follow.
The cost is $30 per person or $50 per couple. Additional ways to impact the overall success of the BGSU women's basketball program include being a player sponsor ($30) or a table sponsor ($270 for a table of 10).
The Falcons' senior class of Tara Breske, Laura Bugher, Sarah Clapper and Tamika Nurse will be recognized, and the team's end-of-season awards will be handed out as well.
Space is limited, so early reservations are encouraged. For more information or to order your tickets, please contact the basketball office at (419) 372-2255. The deadline to order tickets is Monday, April 26.
The 2009-10 Falcons, of course, won the Mid-American Conference regular-season title for the sixth consecutive year, and BGSU captured the MAC Tournament crown for the fourth time in the last six seasons. The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller, associate head coach Jennifer Roos, assistants Brandi Poole and Kevin Eckert and director of operations Monique Rosati finished 27-7 overall and 14-2 in MAC play, advancing to a national postseason tournament for the sixth-straight season. BGSU earned the MAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, falling to Michigan State in the tourney's first round.
BGSU's three fourth-year seniors -- Breske, Bugher and Clapper -- finished their careers with a total of 113 wins, the second-highest win total in BGSU and MAC basketball history -- men's or women's -- in a four-year period. The record of 114 wins is held by last year's one-woman senior class, Lindsey Goldsberry. Breske, Bugher and Clapper were part of Falcon teams that advanced to national tournament play in all four years (with two trips to the NCAAs and two to the WNIT), and were a part of four of the five national postseason wins in program history.
