Falcons Drop Two On Day Two Of Buzz Classic

Woodstock, Ga. – The Bowling Green softball team scored just one run in two games as the Falcons lost to UNC Greensboro 4-1 and to Georgia State 8-0 on day two of the Buzz Classic, hosted by Georgia Tech.
UNC Greensboro rallied with four runs in the top of the seventh to send the Falcons to a loss in the opener. Melissa Bott shut down the Greensboro offense through the first six innings, allowing just three hits. The Falcons got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a lead-off homer by Paige Berger, her team-leading fourth of the year.
The Falcons held that 1-0 lead into the top of the seventh and recorded two outs on the first three batters sandwiched around a walk. Greensboro's next batter walked and an error loaded the bases. The following batter made Bowling Green pay with a grand slam homer to take a 4-1 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Falcons tried to come back by loading the bases but Bowling Green was unable to push any runs across.
In the second game of the day, Bowling Green had just two hits and Georgia State jumped out early with three runs in the second, another in the third, and four more in the fifth before the game was called.
Bowling Green falls to 4-8 on the year and will close out the Buzz Classic Sunday against North Florida at 9 a.m.
