Vaughn Named Co-MAC East Player of the Week

Dennis Vaughn was one of five players named to the MAC weekly awards today.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference office in Cleveland, Ohio announced its final conference players and pitchers of the week today. Among the last class of weekly elite players is Bowling Green Falcon outfielder, Dennis Vaughn. He was named co-MAC East Player of the week, along with Kent State's Anthony Gallas.
Vaughn's first at-bat of the series against Buffalo was the first of four home runs on the weekend. His first three of his four home runs were taken to the opposite field. Vaughn recorded all eight of his RBI on the weekend via home run.
Vaughn hit a home run in the first at-bat in the first two games of the series against UB. He reached base on his first at-bat in each of the three games this weekend. He recorded multiple hits in each of the three games this weekend, but Thursday marked his most successful after going 3-for-5 with two RBI in BGSU's 10-8 victory.
On Friday, he hit a three-run home run as a part of a seven-run first inning that he batted twice in. Both of his hits that day were home runs, his second coming in the sixth inning that sealed a 13-7 win for Bowling Green.
On Saturday, Vaughn scored each time he reached base in the Falcons' thrilled 9-8 walk-off win. He singled and homered in that game, his home run in the seventh making the score 5-3 at the time. Vaughn also had five putouts in the field this weekend, including an outstanding diving catch near the left field line as he dove to his right snaring a fly ball out of the air and saving two runs from scoring in the first inning on Saturday.
Other conference weekly award winners include MAC East Pitcher of the Week Mac Thorenson (Miami), MAC West Pitcher of the Week Jesse Hernandez (Central Michigan), MAC West Player of the Week Joe Corfman (Toledo) and co-MAC East Player of the Week, Anthony Gallas (Kent State).
