June 29, 2010 | Women's Soccer
Today, we begin a new feature here at BGSUFalcons.com, in which we give you an opportunity to learn a little more about your favorite BGSU women's soccer student-athletes. We begin with rising senior Katie Stephenson, a co-captain of the 2010 Falcons ...
Name: Katie Stephenson
Sport: Women's Soccer
Nickname: Kate
My favorite song is: "Your Love" by the Outfield
My favorite movie is: It's so hard to have a favorite movie… I'd like to go with a list (even that doesn't include classics): Indiana Jones series, James Bond movies, The Untouchables, 27 Dresses, The Godfather, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Shawshank Redemption, Tommy Boy, Dumb and Dumber, the Breakfast Club, Die Hard series, A Few Good Men, Tombstone, The Kingdom, The Karate Kid, Ferris Bueller's Day Off … It's just so tough to name one.

My favorite TV shows are: Saturday Night Live, Man vs. Food, Castle, and anything on the Food Network channel. ------>
My most prized possessions are: My running shoes and my Jeep.
I chose BGSU because:
-The distance from home. It's close, yet it's still far away.
-The business school.
-The opportunity to play soccer at the division-one level.
My favorite place on campus is: The student rec center, because I go there almost every day and working out is one of my favorite things to do because it helps me de-stress. There are so many different activities to do there; anything from spinning class, to racquetball, to swimming, and oh ya, can't forget the treadmill.
The coolest thing about BGSU is: How flat it is.
Superpower I would want: I'm going to go with two superpowers if that's ok - ability to jump high and fly.
The best advice I've ever been given: "It is what it is…Life goes on."
The athlete I admire most is: Tedy Bruschi, former linebacker for the New England Patriots. He had suffered from a mild stroke and partial paralysis after playing in the 2005 Pro Bowl. He worked hard for months going through rehabilitation; and midway through the 2005 season, Tedy was cleared to play football again. As a result of his commitment, work ethic, and positive mindset, he was named Comeback player of the year. Now, I chose Tedy Bruschi because not only am I a Patriots fan, I admire Bruschi for his work ethic and attitude, not to mention his leadership qualities. It takes a strong person both mentally and physically, to accomplish what he did. Plus, he has won 3 Super Bowls, which shows that he knows the steps towards becoming successful and reaching goals.
Other than soccer, my favorite sport to play is: Basketball
My favorite sport to watch is: College football
Favorite quote: "Life is full of setbacks. Success is determined by how you handle those setbacks."
My favorite food is: Anything Italian!
Best nickname I have ever had: Kat, my parents still call me that.
The song I love to sing karaoke to: "Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John
I am totally addicted to: Working out, peanut butter, and cooking!
Significance of my uniform number: My first choice number that I had throughout my soccer career was taken, so I decided to go with my high school basketball number.
The person (living or dead) I would most like to meet is: Jillian Michaels. She loves the job that she does and she's good at it because she changes people's lives. From her two television shows, "The Biggest Loser" and "Losing It with Jillian Michaels," it's obvious that she is a big influence. That is what I aspire to do with my life. I want to have a career that I am passionate about, successful in, and can make a difference in others' lives.
If I could hop on a plane right now, I would go to: Venice, Italy
I would be the perfect person to: Go on a run with, but my teammates would tell you otherwise.
In 10 years, I would like to be: Finished with graduate school, married with kids and a dog, living on the East coast, and have a great start to a successful career within either the accounting or investment banking industries.
My goals for the 2010 season are: Personally, to relax, not put so much pressure on myself, and enjoy every minute of my last college season.
