Prochaska named to Naismith Trophy midseason list
Prochaska, a native of Plain City, Ohio (Jonathan Alder H.S.), had the second-highest point total in school history as the Falcons won the only game of the week. She scored 37 points and had a game-high 12 rebounds as BGSU picked up a 60-55 win at Eastern Michigan on Saturday (Feb. 12).
Prochaska made 12 of her 21 shots from the field en route to scoring nearly two-thirds of her team's points vs. EMU. She went 5-of-11 from three-point land, and made eight of nine free-throw attempts. She played all 40 minutes in the game. The double-double, like the Player-of-the-Week award, was her third of the season and the 12th of her career.
Prochaska is averaging 19.4 points and 6.4 rebounds on the year, leading the Falcons in both categories. She also paces BGSU with 57 three-point field goals made, 142 free throws made and a FT percentage of 92.2%, ranking fourth in the country in the latter category.
In MAC games, Prochaska is averaging 18.6 ppg and 6.2 rpg, again leading the Falcons in both categories. Her point total at EMU, as mentioned, was the second highest in school history, behind only her 43-point outburst in a win over Central Michigan during her sophomore season.
Prochaska is the BGSU career scoring leader, with 2,164 points, and also is the school's all-time leader in three-point field goals made, free throws made and FT pct. She ranks fourth in MAC history in scoring, and is second on the conference list for three-pointers made. Prochaska has a chance to finish her career in the top-five in NCAA Division-I history in career free-throw percentage.
Prochaska earned this week's MAC Player-of-the-Week honor for the East Division. Kaihla Szunko of Central Michigan was named the MAC P-O-W in the West.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller, 20-4 overall and 8-3 in the MAC, are home on Wednesday night (Feb. 16), hosting Ohio University in a 7:00 p.m. tipoff. The contest is the team's annual WBCA Pink Zone game in support of breast cancer awareness, and all fans are encouraged to wear pink. Tickets are available by clicking here.
