Falcon Swimming Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Award
February 18, 2011 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Under the tutelage of first-year head coach Petra Martin, the Bowling Green State University swimming team has made positive strides in the pool and in the classroom.
On Thursday (Feb. 17), the Falcons were honored for their success in the classroom when the College Swimming Coaches' Association of America (CSCAA) released their Fall 2010 list of Scholar All-America Teams.
Bowling Green placed sixth nationally among NCAA Division I teams with a 3.53 grade point average. The award is given to teams who achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above. In the fall semester, every member of the team had a GPA of 2.80 or above, and four different swimmers carried perfect 4.0 averages.
Among all Division I schools, more than 80 teams received this honor. The Falcons were the top-ranked Mid-American Conference school, and they were ranked above many of the best programs in the country, including three of the top six in the current CSCAA rankings (Georgia, Auburn, USC).
