The District 4 team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, a starter or important reserve, and must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher.
Hennegan, a fifth-year senior, is in the MBA program at BGSU after graduating in August of 2010 with a perfect 4.00 grade point average as a health care administration major with a minor in business.
She was named to the team for the second consecutive year, having earned second-team honors in 2009-10.
Hennegan, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio (St. Ursula), has started all 22 games this season to date, and is averaging 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. She is fourth on the team in scoring, and is third on the Falcons in rebounds. Hennegan leads BGSU with 25 blocked shots on the year, and also had a team-best field-goal percentage of 51.4 percent.
In MAC games only, Hennegan is averaging 11.0 ppg, good for second on the Falcons, and she ranks third with 5.0 rpg. She is shooting a team-leading 58.9% from the floor, and is a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point land in conference games.
Hennegan has scored in double digits in nine games this season, including six times in the nine MAC games. She scored 16 points, the highest total of her BGSU career, in the Falcons' win at Ohio in the MAC opener, and also had 16 on Tuesday (Feb. 1) in the win at Northern Illinois, going 6-of-7 from the field vs. the Huskies.
Hennegan is joined on the Capital One Academic All-District 4 First Team by Lipscomb's Jenna Bartsokas, Angie Bjorklund of Tennessee, Kristin Daugherty of Dayton and Kaihla Szunko of Central Michigan.
The second team had seven members due to ties in the voting. That team was comprised of Auburn's Blanche Alverson, Dayton's Kari Daugherty and Justine Raterman, Michigan's Veronica Hicks, Murray State's Rachael Isom, and Tennessee's Glory Johnson and Taber Spani.
Three players earned third-team honors, including Kentucky's Carly Morrow, Miami's Courtney Osborn and Akron's Rachel Tecca.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller, 18-4 overall and 6-3 in MAC play, host Ball State in Saturday (Feb. 5) action at Anderson Arena. Tipoff is 2:00 p.m., but fans are encouraged to arrive early, as the All-Anderson Team will be honored in pregame ceremonies beginning at approximately 1:40 p.m.
