Members of the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team recently donated their time and efforts to a Habitat for Humanity project. The student-athletes helped out at a site in the Toledo area on Saturday, April 16.

A few members of the program, rising senior Alyssa Zuccaro and soon-to-be redshirt junior Leah Johnson, shared their combined thoughts and impressions of the experience.
"On April 16, we headed to Toledo to help out with a Habitat for Humanity project. The team arrived at a huge yellow warehouse on a gloomy day, but it ended up as a very bright, heartfelt day for us.
"The team was introduced to Tim Sterns, the Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity's construction department head. He circled us up and told us the plan for the day. We didn't waste any time before we were carrying supplies, cutting wood and hammering a shed together. Tim went around to to all of us to provide assistance, and also to make sure we weren't cutting our - or others' - phalanges off.
"There were two groups of people at different sawhorses, cutting plywood for the attic hatches and the shed that we were building. Once we got the shed walls upright, we started nailing the plywood onto the walls. Team members also were attaching the insulation onto the attic hatches. We worked very efficiently, and it seemed like the time flew by. Even though we completed numerous jobs, it felt like we were out of there in no time.
"Tim said his thanks, and we all took a group picture." :)
Daniel Haller, volunteer manager at the Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity, conveyed his organization's pleasure with the Falcons' help.
"Thanks to coach Andy Richards and the team for all of their help," said Haller. "We look forward to having the team volunteer every spring, and we enjoy the enthusiasm and assistance that they provide to help end poverty housing in Northwest Ohio."
