The Bowling Green State University women's soccer student-athletes are in town, and the 2011 preseason officially got underway on Thursday (Aug. 4). After several organizational meetings, the team members took part in the 'Falcon Fitness Test' Thursday evening. The Falcons' first two practices came on Friday (Aug. 5).

Head coach Andy RIchards begins his 12th season at the helm of the Falcons, and welcomes back a total of 17 letterwinners, including seven starters, from last year's team. The 2011 roster features no fewer than 31 players, including 10 newcomers.
Richards and assistants Kellie Evans and Jimmy Walker have four seniors on this year's roster, including co-captain Alyssa Zuccaro. Megan Amann, Courtney Beinlich and Brittany Hopkins also begin their fourth playing seasons in the Brown and Orange.
The Falcons will play intrasquad scrimmages on each of the next two Sundays, before opening the regular-season schedule with a weekend trip to face Loyola (Ill.) on Aug. 19 and Illinois State on Aug. 21. BGSU will play a total of nine matches at Cochrane Field, with the Falcons' home opener scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 28, vs. Detroit.
