Cross Country Heads To Bradley This Weekend

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio. – The Bowling Green State University men's and women's cross country teams are back in action this weekend, heading to Peoria, Ill. for the Bradley Classic. This weekend marks the final race for Orange and Brown before the MAC Championships, which is scheduled for Oct. 27 in Buffalo, N.Y.
So far this season, the women have secured a second place finish in both of their team meets, including the Mel Brodt Collegiate Opener and the Buffalo Stampede Invitational. The women did not participate in team competition at the All-Ohio Championships two weeks ago, but placed four runners in the top-20.
The men have earned second, fifth and ninth place finishes this season, most recently earning the latter at the All-Ohio Championships two weeks ago. Senior Jason Salyer ran unattached in the open portion of the race, securing a first-place finish in the 8K run.
In 2011, Bowling Green competed at the Ball State Invitational in their MAC Championship tune-up, with the men and women placing second and fifth, respectively. The men finished with an average time of 26:36.2 in the 8K, while the women completed their 6K course with an average time of 25:20.
This year's Bradley Classic will be held at the Newman Golf Course, with the Men's 8,000 Meter College Open starting the festivities at 3 p.m. The Women's 6K College Open will follow shortly after the men, starting at 3:40 p.m. The Bradley Classic Team Championships close out the day, with the men and women starting at 4:25 and 5:05 p.m., respectively.
