Women's Golf Looks to Continue Hot Start
October 04, 2012 | Women's Golf
The Bowling Green State University women's golf team will get back to work this week as they are set to compete in the Butler Invitational on Oct. 8-9 in Indianapolis, Ind on the Highland Country Club.
BGSU will compete in an 11-team field featuring Bradley, Butler, Cleveland State, Eastern Illinois, Evansville, Green Bay, Indiana State, IUPUI, Loyola-Chicago and Valparaiso.
The Falcons are having arguably their greatest start in program history, finishing second at the Redbird Invitational, 13th at the Mary Fossum Invitational and winning the Cleveland State Invitational. Through three tournaments the Falcons are averaging 312.5 as a team, over six strokes lower than current school record of 318.57, established last year.
Helping that team average is a lineup that features nearly six golfers that are averaging sub-80 in 2012-13, which would be a new school record. The current BGSU record for averages under 80 is two, established in 2010-11 and 2011-12.
The Orange and Brown are led by Bailey Arnold (77.1), but also have Patricia Holt (79.0), Lily Bartell (79.3), Shelby Wilson (79.3) and Hannah Lewis (79.8). Senior Amy Ruthenberg is not far off, averaging 80.4 this season.
The Butler Invitational will begin at 8:30 on both days.
