The Bowling Green State University tennis team got the final tournament of the fall schedule underway on Friday (Nov. 9), completing day-one action at the Western Michigan University Super Challenge. The three-day tournament is being hosted by WMU at the West Hills Athletic Club.

Senior co-captain Mary Hill led the way in singles, posting a straight-sets victory over a Marquette opponent at the fifth flight. Junior Emily Reuland lost a narrow match to an Indiana foe in third-flight action, while senior co-captain Maddy Eccleston extended her Notre Dame opponent to a third-set super-tiebreaker before falling at the fourth flight.

Eccleston and fellow senior Katie Grubb dropped their opening-round doubles match, but bounced back for a consolation-round victory over a Marquette duo.

The WMU Super Challenge continues on Saturday afternoon, with the nine-team invite set to conclude on Sunday.
