Softball Continues Road Swing At The Adidas Invitational Tournament

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio. -- The Falcons earned another winning record at the Under Armour Invitational, going 3-2 over the tournament weekend. Bowling Green opened the tournament in dramatic fashion, beating St. Francis 1-0 on a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning from sophomore Katie Yoho. The Falcons then dropped a 7-4 decision to Quinnipiac, before coming from behind to defeat Bethune-Cookman 8-6. Bowling Green lost to Florida Gulf Coast University 6-1 in the second Saturday game, and then closed out the weekend with 4-2 win over St. Francis in the lone Sunday contest.

This weekend, the Falcons head to Rock Hill, South Carolina to compete in the Adidas Invitational. Bowling Green starts the tournament with back-to-back games on Friday, playing host Winthrop University before taking on Campbell University. The Falcons then take on Gardner-Webb University early Saturday afternoon, followed by Albany. Bowling Green closes out the Adidas Invitational with a morning contest against St. John's University on Sunday.
Notes
- Junior Paige Berger leads the Falcons with an impressive .500 batting average. Berger also leads the team with a .512 on base percentage and 20 hits.
- Sophomore Katie Yoho has had an exceptional start to the season as well, leading Bowling Green in home runs (5) and slugging percentage (.816).
- Bowing Green has recorded two triples this season, with senior Rachel Proehl and junior Hannah Fulk each recording one.
- Freshman Paris Imholz has been the work horse in the circle for the Falcons, as she leads Bowling Green in innings pitched (44.1), wins (4), ERA (1.11) and strikeouts (19).
- The Falcons recorded their longest winning streak of the season with the opening-game win over St. Francis, capping off three-straight wins before falling to Quinnipiac in the second game of the Under Armour Invitational. Bowling Green's has only lost back-to-back games once this year, falling to Indiana State (4-3) and Western Kentucky (5-1) on the same day last weekend (Feb. 25).
- The Falcons are 7-5 this season, their best start since 2007, when they opened the year 9-3. Bowling Green finished that year 33-12. The Falcons started 2-10 in their first 12 games last season.
- Adrienne Dick, Emily McClelland, Courtney Cox and Shelby Fink are the only Falcon position players without a hit this season.
- The Falcons have been strong loate in games so far this season, going 4-0 when leading after the fourth inning. Bowling Green in 5-0 when leading after the sixth inning this season.
- The Falcons have yet to win a game this season when allowing a home run, going 0-4. Conversely, Bowling Green is 7-1 when holding thier opponenet to zero home runs.
- Junior Paige Berger is tied with Gina Rango for second on the all-time home run list with 26 career home runs.
Host school Winthrop University carries a 9-8 record into the tournament, including a 2-1 win against No. 9 Tennessee. The Eagles are also currently riding a three-game win streak. The Eagles boast two hitters batting over .400 on the season. Meghan Chapman carries a .440 average, while Jenna Harbin carries a .429. Alex White and Katheryn Eberlin are tied for the team lead with two home runs.
Campbell enters the fifth week of the year ranking highly in Big South in numerous categories. Forgacs leads the league in doubles (7). She is tied for second in the conference in hits (22) and runs (11), sixth in stolen bases (5) and total bases (31) and 10th in on-base percentage (.438). Freshman Stephanie Jones is tied for the lead in stolen bases (7), second in doubles (6), tied for second in hits (22), sixth in total bases (31) and seventh in runs (10).

Gardner Webb comes into the Adidas Invitational with a 8-12 record, The Bulldogs carry a 4-2 record at home, with a combined 4-10 record on the road and on neutral fields. Mckenzie Morenus leads Gardner Webb in home runs (3) and RBI (13). Sam Meenaghan leads the team in batting average (.422), hits (27) and runs (9).
The University at Albany Great Danes are 2-3 on the young season having posted wins over Jacksonville State and Radford back in late February at the Eagle Classic in Statesboro, Ga. Last year's America East Champions, the Great Danes were selected to finish second in the America East Conference preseason coaches' poll this season. Last year, UAlbany finished 28-23 overall and 14-4 in conference play.
