Alexis Kain Earns Scholar All-America Honor

BGSU swimmer earns honorable mention from the CSCAA
The Bowling Green State University swimming team has received another honor from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Alexis Kain has earned Scholar All-America Individual accolades for the Spring 2012 semester.
Earlier in July, the Falcons were named a Scholar All-America Team by the CSCAA for academic success attained during the Spring of 2012/
Kain earned Scholar All-America honorable mention as an individual. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio (Oak Hills HS), she will be a senior on the 2012-13 Falcon squad. Kain recently competed in the 100 breaststroke at the US Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
The Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimmers who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have qualified for their respective national championship. The award is presented in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (winter/spring).
The Honorable Mention Scholar All-America award is presented to swimmers who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the semester or as a cumulative average, and have achieved a 'B' time standard, but have not qualified to compete in their respective national championship.
As a team, the Falcons of head coach Petra Martin were ranked 26th among all NCAA Division-I programs on the Scholar All-America Team listings, with a GPA of 3.45 during the ranking period. BGSU had the second-highest GPA among Mid-American Conference schools.
For the Falcons, the 2012-13 season gets underway with the team's annual Alumnae Meet on Sept. 29. The Orange vs. Brown meet is scheduled for Oct. 5, with the Tom Stubbs Relays set for Oct. 12. All three meets will be held at Cooper Pool.
