Bowling Green, Ohio – Coming off of a strong showing at the All-Ohio Championships, the Bowling Green men's and women's cross country teams will head to the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational Saturday. The Falcons will compete on the same course that will host the NCAA National Championships in November.

The men's 8,000-meter race is set to begin at 12:15 pm and the women's 6,000-meter race will follow at 12:55 pm. THE COMPETITORS
The men's race features 23 teams, including Mid-American Conference opponents Ohio, Toledo and Kent State. The women's race boasts 35 teams, including MAC schools Eastern Michigan and Akron.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bowling Green women's team had two runners finish in the top six and the Falcons placed second out of 42 teams at the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Cedarville. Redshirt sophomore Andrea Alt was second and sophomore Amanda Garlak finished sixth. The men also had a strong showing, finishing 18th out of 41 teams. Senior Jason Salyer set a new personal best time in the 8,000 meters, finishing third overall in 25:10.64.
ALT LEADS THE WAY
Andrea Alt finished as Bowling Green's top runner in both of the meets she competed in this year, finishing second overall at the All-Ohio Championships and 18th at the Mel Brodt Invitational in Bowling Green. The redshirt sophomore has developed into the anchor of the Falcon cross country team.
SALYER ON TOP
Senior Jason Salyer has competed in a lot of races for the Falcons during his time at Bowling Green, but he still set a personal best in the team's last meet – the 8,000-meter All-Ohio Championships. Salyer posted a time of 25:10.64 to finished third out of 289 runners.
EVERY RACE IS ANOTHER BEST
Three BGSU women's runners have set personal bests in each of the team's first three races. Redshirt sophomore Maria Meredith and redshirt freshmen Lindsay Kaatz and Mackenzie McMillin set their own collegiate bests in the 5,000-meter races to begin the year, the EMU Open and the Mel Brodt Invitational, as well as the 6,000-meter All-Ohio Championships.
YOUTHFUL
At the All-Ohio Championships, senior Jason Salyer led the way for the men's team but the next four Falcons to finish were all underclassmen. On the women's side, 15 of the 16 student-athletes on the women's roster are either freshmen or sophomores. The six runners who competed for the squad's second place finish at the All-Ohio Championships were all among the group of underclassmen.
PRESEASON PREDICTIONS
In the MAC preseason coaches' poll, the BGSU women were picked to finish eighth in the MAC in 2013. The men's team was chosen to finish ninth.
STRONG ACADEMICALLY
Both the BGSU men's and women's cross country teams were named All-Academic Teams by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2012 season.
