Brozovich, Chiricosta & Reuland to participate in ITA Midwest Regional Championships
BRACKET - Qualifying Singles, Day 1
The University of Michigan women's tennis team will host the six-day event, which begins Thursday (Oct. 10) at U-M's Varsity Tennis Center, with competitors from a total of 23 schools participating. The winners of each draw will receive berths to the ITA National Indoor Championships.
Chiricosta is one of the top-four seeds in her half of the singles qualifying draw, which begins on Thursday. Chiricosta, Reuland and Brozovich all were placed in the top half of the bracket.
The first two singles rounds in the qualifying draw will be completed on Thursday, with the round of 16 opening Friday's (Oct. 11) action in Ann Arbor.
In Thursday's opening round, which is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., Reuland will take on Kadi Ilves of Illinois State, with the winner advancing to meet Wright State's Linsey Verstrepen in the second round.
Brozovich will face Louise Kwong of Illinois, with the winner advancing to meet Julie Vrabel of Notre Dame.
Chiricosta, as one of the top-four seeds in the top half of the singles qualifying draw, has a first-round bye. She will face either Michigan's Annie Weirda or IPFW's Miloslva Shustova, who play one another in an opening-round match.
Chiricosta leads the Falcons with nine overall wins on the young season, while Reuland and Brozovich rank second and third, respectively, on the team in that category. Reuland has seven wins and Brozovich six this fall.
Chiricosta enters Friday morning's action tied for second on the BGSU career doubles wins list. She has 81 singles victories as a Falcon, tying her with Stefanie Menoff (2006-09) on that chart. Chiricosta's sister, Christine Chiricosta (2008-11), currently holds the school record with 89 career singles wins.
Reuland is deadlocked for 13th in BGSU history with 72 career singles wins entering Friday action in Ann Arbor. Both Chiricosta and Reuland are ranked in the top 10 in school history in overall career wins.
Doubles play begins on Friday with the first and second rounds of the main draw. The complete schedule is below. For scoring updates during the ITA Midwest Regional Championship, click the link at the top of this page or click here.
