Alexis Rogers Named MAC Player of the Week

Senior forward earns league weekly honors
Rogers, a native of West Chester, Ohio (Lakota West H.S.) averaged a team-high 16.0 points along with 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in the Falcons' two contests last week. She shot 68.4% from the field as BGSU dismantled Massachusetts, 86-46, Thursday (Dec. 19) before losing a 57-48 decision on the road against nationally-ranked Purdue Sunday afternoon (Dec. 22). In the latter game, BG was within two points in the final two minutes, before the Boilermakers hit free throws down the stretch for the nine-point margin.
In the UMass game, Rogers had 16 points and a game-high eight rebounds, and hit 8-of-10 shots from the field in just 22 minutes. Rogers also added three assists and two steals. Then, at Purdue, Rogers again had 16 points and added five rebounds. She hit 5-of-9 shots from the floor and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
On the season, Rogers is averaging a team-best 12.7 points per game, and is second on the team with 7.7 rebounds per game. She paces the Falcons with a 55.6% field-goal percentage.
Rogers was named the MAC Player of the Week for the East Division. Central Michigan's Crystal Bradford earned this week's MAC P-O-W award for the West Division.
The Falcons are 9-2 on the season, heading into a game vs. Saint Francis (Pa.) next Sunday (Dec. 29). That game, BGSU's final non-conference matchup of the year, begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Stroh Center.
