Knoxville, Tenn. – Bowling Green will send five swimmers to the AT&T Winter National Championships Thursday through Saturday at the University of Tennessee's Allan Jones Aquatic Center. Maya Skorupski, Jordan Bullock, Joelle Scheps, Daniela Carrillo and Stephanie Boyle will represent the Falcons. Swimming events begin at 9 a.m. each day.

ABOUT THE AT&T WINTER NATIONALS
The AT&T Winter Nationals will take place over three days. There will be team scoring based on a 16-place basis. With individual events scoring 20, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and relay events earning double those point values. The following Falcons are seeded in the top 16: Daniela Carrillo (No. 10 seed in 100 breaststroke, No. 11 seed in 200 breaststroke), 400 medley relay (No. 12 seed), 200 medley relay (No. 12 seed). The following is the schedule of events for prelims, with finals beginning at 5 pm each evening.

BGSU competed at the TYR Invitationals, hosted by Northwestern University, a week ago. The Falcons ended fourth out of nine teams at the meet and freshman Victoria Griffin set a new school record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.87 seconds. She also reached the NCAA "B" cut time for the event.

TEAM RANKINGS
According to CollegeSwimming.com, Bowling Green climbed 17 spots a week ago to No. 13 in their Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Falcons moved up from third to first in the MAC as well.
INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
BGSU is ranked at the top of the MAC, according to CollegeSwimming.com, in six events and is ranked second in four more at the midpoint of the season. Daniela Carrillo leads the way, being ranked first in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Brittany Szekely is at the top of the MAC in the 50 freestyle and Victoria Griffin is first in the 100 freestyle. Both the 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams also have the top time in the MAC this year and are ranked among the top 50 in the country. UNBEATEN
Freshman Victoria Griffin remains unbeaten in both the 100 and 200 freestyle in dual meets this year, going 4-0 in the 100 and 3-0 in the 200. Griffin also won the 100 freestyle at the TYR Invitational, setting a new school record time of 49.87.

SCHEPS NAMED SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Senior Joëlle Scheps was named the Mid-American Conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Nov. 13 after winning two individual events and racing as part of a winning relay in the team's dual meet at Oakland. Scheps is an individualized business major with a 4.00 grade point average.

GRIFFIN NAMED MAC SWIMMER OF THE WEEK TWICE
It hasn't taken long for Victoria Griffin to make her mark in the Mid-American Conference. The freshman earned MAC Swimmer of the Week honors on Nov. 4 after winning three individual events and two relay races in weekend meets against Miami and Xavier. She was once again named MAC Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 25 after setting a new school record in the 100 freestyle and reaching the NCAA "B" cut in the event at the TYR Invitational.

CARRILLO CONTROLS THE BREASTSTROKE
A year ago, Daniela Carrillo competed at the NCAA Championships in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, setting BGSU school records in both events. Once again, she is in position to represent the University, ranking first in the MAC in both again.

SZEKELY DOMINATING THE 50 FREESTYLE
Senior Brittany Szekely ranks first in the MAC in the 50 freestyle, posting a meet-best time of 23.31 seconds in the TYR Invitational prelimary round. She followed that up with a 23.32 race in the finals to finish first. Szekely has also won the event in dual meets at Eastern Michigan and Oakland.

400 FREESTYLE RELAY PUSHING TO NEW HEIGHTS
Bowling Green has won the 400 freestyle relay in all three dual races in which the event was competed in. Victoria Griffin, Kayla Effinger, Petra Laudova and Brittany Szekely swam a season-best time of 3:29.92 to win at Eastern Michigan, while Effinger, Erica Nieminen, Maya Skorupski and Griffin also won at Xavier in a time of 3:33.61. The team of Griffin, Szekely, Hannah Newman and Joëlle Scheps pushed the season-best time to 3:29.69 in a win at Oakland. Griffin, Effinger, Scheps and Szekely finished second at the TYR Invite, swimming a season-best 3:25.33.
