Pettigrew Hits Qualifying Mark At Golden Flash Gala

Kent, Ohio – Bowling Green State University senior Jeanette Pettigrew opened the 2013-14 indoor track and field season with a splash, placing second in the 60 and hitting the MAC Automatic Qualifying Mark in the event.
Pettigrew placed second in the prelims with a time of 7.62 and then improved to 7.56 in the finals to again finish as the runner-up behind only Pittsburgh's Taranisha Taylor at 7.51. Sophomore transfer Alicia Arnold place third in both the prelims and finals, posting a time of 7.67 seconds to come up .01 short of the MAC Automatic Qualifying Mark in the event.
Redshirt junior Brittany Sinclair finished third in the 400 with a time of 58.33 seconds and junior Natalie Sommerville followed her with a career-best time of 59.05 seconds to place seventh. Sophomore Kera Lamotte ran a career-best 25.86 seconds to finish fifth in the 200, while freshman Gabrielle Edwards was fifth in the 300 in 41.55 seconds. Sophomore Tiera Parker had a sixth-place finish in the triple jump at 37-feet-00.25, a distance that was more than a foot longer than any Falcon a year ago.
Bowling Green is now off until hosting the BG Opener at Perry Fieldhouse Jan. 11.
