Pleger Named MAC Field Athlete Of The Week Again
April 10, 2013 | Women's Track and Field
Cleveland, Ohio – Brooke Pleger was named the Mid-American Conference's Field Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week after posting the second-best hammer throw in the nation this year at the Northeast Ohio Invitational, hosted by Akron.
Pleger threw the hammer 219-feet-9 to break her school record by more than seven feet, a mark she set just a week earlier to climb to third in the country. She moved up another spot this week with a distance that also surpassed the A standard for automatic qualification to the USA Track and Field Championship in June.
Pleger's throw leaves her less than two feet shy of becoming one of the top 10 American collegiate hammer throwers of all-time.
BGSU Track and Field will be back in action Thursday as the Falcons host rival Toledo at Whittaker Track beginning at 2 p.m. After that, BGSU will compete at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. April 18-20.
