Brooke Pleger Named MAC Field Athlete Of The Week
April 30, 2013 | Women's Track and Field
Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green redshirt sophomore Brooke Pleger earned the Mid-American Conference's Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday. It is the third time this year that Pleger has earned the award.
Pleger won the hammer throw at the Ashland Alumni Open with a toss of 215-feet-7, her second-longest throw of the year. Only six other collegiate hammer throwers have exceeded that mark this year. Pleger won the event in a field that also included the eighth-ranked hammer thrower in the country. Currently, Pleger ranks No. 5 in the country and is the only MAC athlete ranked that high in an event this year.
Pleger earned the same award in back-to-back weeks on April 2 and April 9 and has consistently posted one of the best marks in the country this year. She is a lock to advance to the NCAA East Regional Championships but will first compete for a MAC Championship May 9-11 in Akron, Ohio.
