Shay, Berger Named Pizza Hut Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Pizza Hut Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Jeremy Shay and softball player Paige Berger.

Male Athlete of the Week
Jeremy Shay, a junior from Garden City, Mich., led the Falcons offensively, proving to be a tough out all week by batting .429 (6-14). He scored five runs on the week, while driving in six more. He had a double and home run to build his weekly resume. In Friday's 10-4 win over EMU, Shay went 3-for-5 scoring four runs and driving in two. Shay had two RBI in each start on the weekend, helped by an opposite field home run on Sunday afternoon.
Female Athlete of the Week
Paige Berger, a senior from Rootstown, Ohio, broke Bowling Green's career home run record with three home runs during a 5-1 week to give her 34 as a Falcon. She led BGSU in nearly every offensive category, including hits (nine), runs (nine), total bases (20) and slugging percentage (1.111). Berger also had a .571 on-base percentage, recorded a stolen base, and had a fielding percentage of 1.000.
