New Video Board Installed at Cooper Pool
May 22, 2013 | Women's Swimming & Diving
The Bowling Green State University swim team will benefit from the installation of a new video scoreboard in the Student Recreation Center's Cooper Pool.
The Olympex board from Colorado Time Systems is 10.8' x 19.3' and features a full-color LED screen with a computer controller and video capabilities. It is the same display used by the University of Notre Dame and the University of Minnesota.
The project was a joint venture between BGSU athletics and the department of recreation and wellness. Generous contributions from Hal and Diane Hawk, Paul Atkinson, the Sam Cooper Fund, Lee Koenig, Tom Stubbs, Mary Beth Thaman, Charles Woodfill, Dr. Ron and Cindy Zwierlein and the BGSU Swimming and Diving Alumni Society combined to raise the necessary funds.
"I would like to thank all the people that were involved with this project and helped us make this a reality," said head swim coach Petra Martin. "It is always great to see different people and groups working together towards a common goal. We did this as a team and now the BGSU swim team, the region's swimming and diving community and the rec community can all benefit from this state-of-the-art equipment."
"Diane and I were pleased to be included in this fund raiser as our USA program attends many meets at BGSU, and a new board was needed," said Hal Hawk. "Additionally, we have appreciated the addition of Petra to the swim program, and her willingness to get involved with Northwest Ohio swimming, and we commend her for doing so."
The board will be used by the Falcon swimmers, as well as the university's club team, high school and USA swimming club teams, BGSU's aquatic programs and others throughout the community.
