Falcon freshman named to Mexican National Team

The World Championships will be held in Barcelona, Spain from July 19 through August 4.
Carrillo won the 100 breaststroke at the Mexican National Championships this week, with a time of 1:10.97. She was the only woman in her event to meet the FINA B World Championship qualifying standard.
"Making the World Championships team was one of our big goals with Daniela this year," said BGSU coach Petra Martin. "I am really excited for her and for our program to reach such high level of competition and to be able to represent the Falcons in Barcelona this summer.
"We made some big leaps as a program this season and Daniela contributed greatly to that. It's nice to see that her development process is continuing forward as it is with the rest of the team. Coaching the team and Daniela is a very exciting and creative process and I am thrilled to guide and teach such a great group of young women."
Carrillo, a freshman on the 2012-13 BGSU roster, was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team in her first season with the Falcons. She became the first Falcon swimmer to advance to the NCAA Championships since 1996. She recorded a pair of second-place finishes, in the 100- and 200 breaststroke, at the MAC Championships, with school-record times in both events.
Carrillo posted a total of 11 top-two finishes in the 100- and 200 breaststroke in 2012-13, including five wins.
