Mikayla Baer Finishes In The Top 20 With 73

The Orange and Brown are currently sitting in eighth place after the first day of action at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate.
WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team completed their first round on Monday (Sept. 16), which was played at the Waynesville Inn – Golf Resort & Spa in Waynesville, N.C. The Falcons finished the first 18 holes in the 36-hole tournament format with a total score of 306, placing them in eighth heading into the final round tomorrow (Sept. 17).
Eighth year head coach Stephanie Young showcase a lineup that included senior Bailey Arnold, junior Patricia Holt, sophomores Lily Bartell and Hannah Lewis, and freshman Mikayla Baer.
It was the first time the Orange and Brown returned to the Great Smokies Intercollegiate since 2011, where BGSU finished with a team score of 612 (305-307).
Baer, who is coming off her collegiate debut last week at the Redbird Invitational, entered the clubhouse with a team-best 1-over 73 (37-36) on the day. The finish placed Baer inside the top 20, tying her for 19th position heading into the final 18 holes.
Sophomore Lily Bartell, who is coming off a career-best 54-hole tournament a week ago, finished the day with a 3-over 75 (36-39). With the finish, Bartell placed in the top 25 in the field that featured 12 teams.
Bailey Arnold and Patricia Holt both carded identical scores, carding a 7-over 79 on the day. Both are sitting in 43rd place entering the final round.
Hannah Lewis, who was the other sophomore playing for Coach Young, carded an 18-hole score of 81 (43-38), placing her tied for 51st position.
BGSU will be right back in action as the teams will tee off tomorrow, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
