After defeating opponents from UDM and Toledo on Friday, Chiricosta downed UC's Ashleigh Witte by identical 6-1 scores in Saturday's championship match. The BG senior swept all six singles sets in the tournament, losing a total of just 10 games in those six sets.

Chiricosta went 3-0 en route to her title, while four of the five other team members -- Brozovich, Hutchison, senior Emily Reuland, sophomore Drew Fillis and freshman Hannah Drayton -- had a 2-1 singles mark on the weekend.
Reuland captured two consolation matches in the second singles flight after losing her first match in three sets on Friday. She topped UC's Caitlin O'Gara in the back-draw final on Saturday.

Freshman Brittany Plaszewski went to a tiebreaker in the opening set of her third-place match vs. UDM's Elena Strakhova at the fifth flight on Saturday. Strakhova was able to pull out the win in that tiebreaker and went on to capture the second set as well.
In doubles, the Falcons went 3-3 on Saturday and 5-4 on the weekend. The top flight saw Chiricosta and Fillis win two matches in the back draw on Saturday after dropping their Friday opener. On Saturday, that duo beat two IPFW tandems, including an 8-3 win over the Mastodons' Mayu Sato and Miloslava Shustova in the consolation final.
Overall, Chiricosta and Fillis each had perfect 3-0 records on Saturday.
The second doubles flight saw Reuland and Hutchison defeat a UDM duo by an 8-5 score in the semifinal round, before losing to UC's Bellinger and Poggensee-Wei in the championship. Brozovich and Drayton competed in that same flight, and lost to that same UC duo in the semifinals before falling by a narrow 8-6 score to a UDM team in the third-place match.
Seniors Chiricosta and Reuland certainly enjoyed their fair shares of success at the BGSU Invitational over the years. Reuland went 22-2 overall in the invite, with identical records of 11-1 in both singles and doubles.
Chiricosta was 21-3 in the BGSU Invitational in her four seasons, including a team-best 5-1 overall record in the 2013 event.
Chiricosta and Reuland each continued to climb the BGSU career charts. Chiricosta moved up several notches on all three lists this weekend. She now ranks third in school history in both singles and overall wins, and is tied for fourth in doubles victories.
Reuland is 14th in singles victories, and has moved into a tie for 16th in doubles wins. She has matched former BGSU standout and current volunteer assistant coach Cindy (Mikolajewski) Yonker on the doubles chart. Reuland is 13th in combined career wins at BG (see lists on this page).
The Falcons return to action next weekend, heading to Oxford for the Miami Invitational on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 28-29).
