Buffalo is off to a strong start to its MAC season having posted back-to-back wins on the road at Kent State, 2-0, and at Ohio, 1-0, last weekend. The Bulls are 6-2-1 overall on the year and a perfect 2-0-0 in conference play entering the week. All six of the Bulls' wins have come by way of a shutout, with three of those six victories coming at home where Buffalo is undefeated on the season. Led by reigning MAC Offensive Player of the Week Katie Roberts' team-high four goals, the Bulls have had five players combined for their 11 goals this season, while goalkeeper Laura Dougall has registered a .921 saves percentage on the season on her way to six shutout wins.
A GLIMPSE OF THE ZIPSÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Akron will be looking for their first MAC win this weekend, as the Zips will host Eastern Michigan on Friday, Oct. 3, and Bowling Green on Sunday, Oct. 5. The Zips are 4-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in league play having dropped both of their MAC road matches last weekend at Ohio, 3-1, and at Kent State, 3-0. Akron is 2-1-0 at home this season and will look to add to their home win total this week. The Zips have four players tied for a team-high two goals apiece on the season in a balanced attack that has seven players contributing to 10 goals on the year.

Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Cadel has once again had a strong season in goal for the Falcons thus far in 2014, as she has posted 56 saves on the year. In fact, Cadel recorded a season-high 10 saves versus Cleveland State on Sept. 5 and has totaled nine saves twice this season - at Butler on Sept. 19 and at Miami Sept. 28. Last year, Cadel registered 109 saves on the season.
WRAPPING UP A THREE WEEK ROAD TRIPÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
This weekend, the Falcons will be wrapping up a five-match road swing that has lasted three weeks. The current five-match road trip is not only the longest of the season for the Falcons, but also is the longest streak of consecutive road games played since a six-game road trip in 2009.

A total of EIGHT different players have registered at least one goal thus far this year. Senior Sidney Huth and freshman Skylar Fleak lead the way with two goals apiece, while Madison Schupbach, Kara Ross, Jessica Creech, Paige Amodio, Rachel Winters and Jennifer Reyes all have one goal on the year.

A total of nine different players have recorded a career first thus far in 2014 for the Falcons. Skylar Fleak, Madison Schupbach, Kara Ross, Jessica Creech, Paige Amodio, Rachel Winters and Jennifer Reyes have all registered their first career goals this season, while freshmen Leah Runkle and Alexa Cheripko have each tallied their first career assist already this season.

The Falcons have totaled 10 goals thus far in 2014, surpassing its season total from both 2013 and 2012. BGSU had a total of nine goals as a team in both 2013 and 2012.

Senior forward Sidney Huth was named the MAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week for women's soccer on Sept. 8 by the conference office. Huth had a career night in the Falcons 8-0 win over Chicago State on Sept. 7, as the forward tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Huth, who played a part in four straight goals for the Falcons in just a little over a 15 minute span, assisted on the second goal of the match, scored the third, aided in the fourth and converted the fifth in the rout of the Cougars.

The Falcons had five players notch their first career goals in the 8-0 win, while senior Sidney Huth had a career night with two goals and two assists as four different players recorded both a goal and an assist in the blowout win. The win is the first of the season for the Falcons and is the first victory for BGSU under head coach Lindsay Basalyga. BGSU's last win came back on Aug. 26, 2012, when BGSU defeated IUPUI 2-1 at Cochrane Stadium. The win is also the first road win for the Falcons since Bowling Green beat Buffalo 2-1 at Buffalo on Sept. 23, 2011. The 8-0 win marks the largest margin of victory for the Falcons on the pitch since BGSU overwhelmed Youngstown State by nine goals in a 10-1 win back on Oct. 3, 2001. The win over IUPUI in 2012 was also the last time the Falcons scored multiple goals in a contest prior to the eight goals scored tonight at Chicago State.

As part of the preseason player rankings, TopDrawerSoccer.com released its top-20 women's soccer players in each conference across the country this weekend and Bowling Green State University's Lauren Cadel came in at No. 16 overall in the Mid-American Conference.

Bowling Green was picked to finish sixth in the East Division in the 2014 MAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll.

The 2014 exhibition season saw the Falcons play to draws against UIC and Wright State at Cochrane Stadium. BGSU played the Flames of UIC to a 2-2 draw on Aug. 12, getting goals from Skylar Fleak and Kara Ross. The Falcons then got a late goal from newcomer Mikaela Couch to finished in a 1-1 tie with Wright State on Aug. 15. The three preseason goals were all scored by newcomers.

The Falcons have a combined all-time wins total of 81 victories over its 2014 foes, including 11 wins versus Buffalo and 10 wins over Kent State. Overall, the Falcons entered the season at 81-113-26 against its slated 2014 opponents.

The 2014 BGSU women's soccer roster boast a total of 14 sophomores and freshmen out of the 22 player squad. In fact, of the 14 total underclassmen, 10 are either redshirt-freshmen or true freshmen.

The Falcons have a core of nine returners back in 2014, six of which started over 50 percent of the matches last season for BGSU. Back are seniors Ashley Garr (Goodrich, Mich.) and Sidney Huth (Lebanon, Ohio), as well as redshirt-senior Kylie Briem (Beavercreek, Ohio). Fellow upperclassmen include juniors Haley Parkinson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Emma Norris (Sycamore, Ill.) and Lauren Cadel (Newmarket, Ontario, Canada), while sophomores Melissa Needham (Saline, Mich.), Paige Amodio (Strongsville, Ohio) and Jessica Creech (Troy, Mich.) will all look to make an impact in their second seasons of play at the collegiate level.

Heading into the 2014 season, the Falcons will have a total of 13 new faces on the roster as Coach Basalyga and her staff begin the process of restoring the program back to championship contenders. BGSU added transfers Alexis Smith (Livonia, Mich./Schoolcraft College), Alexa Cheripko (Pickerington, Ohio/Otterbein University) and Kara Ross (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada/Brock University), as well as newcomers Evelina Hellgren (Ornskoldsvik, Sweden/Parkskolan), Leah Runkle (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth), Rachel Winters (Plymouth, Mich./Canton), Madison Schupbach (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek), Erica Hubert (Welland, Ontario, Canada/ E.L. BGSU head coach Lindsay Basalyga is in her second year at the helm of the Falcons women's soccer program and is on a mission to help rebuild the program back to its championship ways. Since BGSU posted 12 wins and advanced to the semifinals of the MAC Championship Tournament in 2008, the Falcons have won only 16 matches over the last five years and have failed to make it to the MAC Championship Tournament in each of those seasons.

BGSU will kick-off a four-game home stand on Oct. 10 versus Central Michigan at 7 p.m. The Falcons will then host Toledo on Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.
