Schmitz, Falcons Welcome Seven In Signing Class

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—The Bowling Green State University baseball program, under the direction of head coach Danny Schmitz, announced on Monday (Nov. 24) the addition of seven student-athletes. All seven student-athletes hail from the state of Ohio, and carry with them impressive resumes through their performance on the field and in the classroom.
"We are pleased to welcome these seven young men to our Falcon family," Schmitz began. "It is always exciting to have so many guys eager to join your program, and they will certainly boost our program both on and off the field. We look forward to getting these guys to campus next fall and having the opportunity to coach and develop them for the next four years."
Blake Jenkins, Riley Minorik, Logan Giddings, Chase Antle, Brad Croy, Cam Daugherty, and Joe McGuinness will join the Bowling Green baseball program as freshman next fall. Information about all seven incoming student-athletes is available below.

HIGH SCHOOL: Is currently a senior at Walsh Jesuit High School … plays for head coach Chris Kaczmar … has lettered in each of his first three seasons as a member of the Warriors … was named a 2014 Lousiville Slugger All-American … 2014 first team All-Ohio member … named Player of the Year in the prestigious North Coast League … was the 2014 WJ Silver Slugger and Offensive Player of the Year … helped his team to a 26-1 record, winning the first 26 games before falling in the state tournament … has led the Warriors to a combined three-year record of 68-11 … batted .507 with six home runs as a junior … is a member of the Ohio Elite Baseball Club.

HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time letterwinner at Grove City High School … plays for head coach Ryan Alexander … helped the Greyhounds to a 22-6 record in 2014 … GCHS won the district championship last season … was 7-1 on the mound with four saves … earned 2014 second team All-OCC … plays for the Ohio Elite Baseball Club.
PERSONAL: Full name is Chase Thompson Antle … born on February 16, 1997 … son of Jeff Antle and Jana Longoria … has three siblings – one brother, Cole (16), and two sisters, Kayla (15) and Keelyn (1) … hopes to major in intervention specialist.
COACH'S COMMENTS: "Chase is a strong-bodied workhorse on the mound. He has an upper 80's fastball which touches 90. His repertoire also includes a plus-curveball which Falcon fans should be very excited about."

HIGH SCHOOL: Has lettered for three seasons at Ottawa Glandorf High School … plays for head coach Nick Miller … has helped the Titans to a 34-10 record over the past two seasons … his .443 last season with a school-record 18 doubles … had a 4-1 record on the mound with a 2.26 earned run average … was named first team All-Western Buckeye League in 2014 … also earned first team All-District and honorable mention All-Ohio … OGHS won the 2014 WBL Championship … has also lettered in soccer … earned 2014 first team All-WBL in soccer and second team All-District … plays for the Ohio Elite Baseball Club.

HIGH SCHOOL: Will be an 11-time letterwinner when his career as a student-athlete ends at Wooster High School … has played for head coach Derek Boyd … was named All-Ohio for division I last season in baseball … was also an honorable mention All-Ohio honoree in basketball following his junior season … has earned first team All-Ohio Cardinal Conference honors in all three seasons on the baseball field … was named OCC Player of the Year in 2014 … earned three football letters and three (thus far) basketball letters in his career … is on the OCC leadership committee and a member of the National Honor Society … will be a captain in football, basketball, and baseball during his senior season … played for Wayne County Legion during the summer … his team won the 2014 Legion State Championship.

HIGH SCHOOL: Has earned two letters to date at Olentangy High School in baseball … plays for head coach Ryan Lucas … has batted over .310 in both his sophomore and junior seasons for the Braves … has been named a scholar athlete in each of the last three years … batted .355 last season with a slugging percentage of .662 for the Braves … was named honorable mention All-OCC and All-County following his junior season … was a member of the Principal's Advisory Council at OHS … has been a captain for the Braves baseball program during both his junior and senior seasons … also lettered in basketball … played with the Columbus Cobras in the summer.
