Each of the dozen BGSU players hit at least one field goal on the night. The Falcons burst out to a 30-4 lead midway through the first half, and BG never looked back.
The lead was 51-15 at the half, and the Brown and Orange opened up a game-high 54-point margin in the final minute of the second half, before the Senators scored the last two points of the evening.
"We were looking for a few things today," said BGSU head coach Jennifer Roos. "We wanted to compete, we wanted to be more physical at both ends of the floor, execute better at both ends of the floor, and we wanted to take care of the ball.
"I told the team that we wanted to be better than we were the last time we played an opponent (in a closed scrimmage last weekend). Something clicked with this team over the last few days, and I thought we got the effort and a lot of the things we were looking for tonight."
Redshirt junior Erica Donovan had a double-double, with 15 points and 11 rebounds, to lead a balanced attack for the Brown and Orange. Sophomore Rachel Konieczki joined Donovan in double figures, with 10 points and a team-leading seven assists.
Six other players had at least seven points on the night. Senior Jasmine Matthews and freshman Haley Puk scored nine points apiece. Puk hit a game-high three three-point field goals, while Matthews and Konieczki knocked down two apiece.
Sophomore Abby Siefker scored eight points and had six rebounds. She did not miss a shot in the win, going 2-for-2 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Junior Miriam Justinger and freshmen Sarah Baer and Lauren Webb scored seven points each. Justinger had six rebounds, while Webb and Baer combined to make eight free throws in 10 attempts.
Freshman Rachel Myers scored six points and pulled down six rebounds, while Senior Deborah Hoekstra had five points, three assists and a pair of steals. Konieczki also had two steals to tie Hoekstra for the team lead.
Redshirt freshmen Kennedy Kirkpatrick and Leah Bolton scored three and two points, respectively, and each player had four rebounds in the victory.
Sharmaine Baker had nearly half of her team's points, scoring a game-high 17 points, while Stephanie Wooten had eight points, seven assists and three steals for the Senators.
The game was tied at 2-2 with two minutes gone, before the Falcons went on a 19-0 run to seize control. After Justinger opened the scoring with a driving layup, Baker's layup at the 18:06 mark tied the score. Then, however, the Senators would go without a point for nearly five minutes.
Siefker fed Donovan for a layup and a 4-2 lead, and Konieczki found Justinger for a three-pointer. Donovan took a Konieczki pass and drained a triple try for a 10-2 advantage, then scored on transition for a 10-point lead with four minutes elapsed.
After Donovan and Justinger combined to score the Falcons' first 12 points, Siefker hit back-to-back layups less than 30 seconds apart. Konieczki, after finding Siefker witih the 'extra' pass on the latter bucket, then stole the ball and fed Donovan for an easy layup. Then, with just under six minutes gone, Konieczki converted a layup of her own, and the lead was 20-2.
After a Matthews free throw, Wooten snapped the visitors' long drought, but Matthews hit a long two-pointer and fellow senior Hoekstra knocked down three free throws. Layups by Myers and Hoekstra made it a 30-4 game.
Six-straight points at the charity stripe, the last four by Siefker, gave BG a 36-8 lead, and a jumper by Baer with just under five minutes before halftime put the home team ahead by a 40-11 score. Matthews hit a pair of three-pointers late in the period, and Bolton's jumper with 48 seconds to go gave the Falcons that 51-15 halftime advantage.
BGSU shot 58.1 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, while holding Davis & Elkins to just a 23.3% conversion rate from the floor.
Justinger scored the first two points of the second half, after both teams were scoreless for over two minutes out of the break, and a Webb free throw put the Falcons up, 54-15. The visitors, however, would score the game's next 11 points, with Baker and Wooten scoring four apiece and Ashley Bowles hitting a trey -- the Senators' lone three-pointer of the game.
Donovan split a pair of free throws, however, then found Puk for a three-pointer in transition, and BG's lead was 58-26. Moments later, Kirkpatrick hit a corner three, and two Donovan free throws gave the hosts a 37-point lead, at 65-28.
With just over seven minutes remaining, Puk's three-pointer began an 11-0 run that put the hosts ahead by 49. Puk hit another trey to close that 11-0 stretch, and after a Baker layup, Konieczki's three-ball increased the lead to 50 points for the first time.
Baer and Webb knocked down jumpers in the late going, and two Baer free throws made it a 54-point margin before Shanda Howell's layup with 11 seconds to go closed the scoring.
For the game, the Falcons shot 49.2% from the field, while D&E shot just 28.3%. BGSU went 20-of-26 from the free-throw line, and the visitors were 1-of-3. BG also enjoyed a 49-28 rebounding advantage in the win.
The Falcons also had advantages in points off turnovers (34-11), fast-break points (20-8) and points off the bench (39-6).
BGSU will begin the regular season next Friday, Nov. 14, facing Bucknell University at the Stroh Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
