Junior earns honor for the first time in her career
Bowling Green State University women's basketball standout Miriam Justinger has been named Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning (Dec. 1). Justinger, a junior, earns the honor for the first time this season and the first time in her BGSU career.
Justinger, a native of Sylvania, Ohio (Northview H.S.), earned the honor for the week of Nov. 17-24. She averaged 11.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game as the Falcons posted wins over Iona and Milwaukee. Justinger was second on the team in scoring, third in rebounding, and she led BG in assists and steals on the week.
Justinger had 10 points and five rebounds, along with three assists and three steals, in BG's 80-59 win over Iona. She made 4-of-7 shots from the field vs. the Gaels, and was a perfect 2-of-2 from three-point range. Then, four days later at Milwaukee, Justinger had 12 points, eight boards and team-best totals of three assists and four steals as the Falcons rallied for a 60-50 win.

Following the Falcons' just-concluded trip to Los Angeles, Justinger is averaging 10.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season. She ranks second on the team in both scoring and rebounding, leads the Falcons in assists and is tied for the BG lead in steals.
In the classroom, Justinger maintains a 3.602 cumulative grade-point average as an exercise science major.
The Falcons, 3-2 on the year, now prepare for the team's lone home game during the month of December. BGSU will face Cincinnati on Sunday (Dec. 7), with tipoff set for 2:00 p.m. at the Stroh Center.
