Alt Opens Weekend With Strong Steeplechase Effort
April 17, 2014 | Women's Track and Field
Walnut, Calif. - Bowling Green State University redshirt sophomore Andrea Alt surpassed the Mid-American Conference automatic qualifying mark in the 3000 steeplechase, running a 10:57.52 at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays Thursday night.
Alt opened a big weekend for the Falcons with a time in the steeplechase that had only been beaten by two other runners in the conference entering the day. Competing in the Open A race at the Mt. SAC Relays, she finished 19th out of 24 runners, including defeating a pair of league foes. The time was nine seconds shy of her personal best, which came at the MAC Championships a year ago.
Jasmine Redman and Jeanette Pettigrew will compete in the Mt. SAC Relays Friday, while the remainder of the team will be taking part in the Kentucky Relays Saturday.
