Jillian Halfhill Named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Senior point guard averaged 18 points per game in leading BGSU into WNIT's quarterfinal round

Halfhill, a native of Canfield, Ohio (Canfield H.S.), averaged a team-leading 18.0 points, along with 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists, as the Falcons won two games in the WNIT last week to advance to the quarterfinal round for the first time in school history. BGSU posted double-digit victories over St. Bonaventure (76-65; March 24) in the second round and Michigan (63-53; March 27) in the third, beating the Wolverines for the second time this year.
The latter victory was the Falcons' 30th win of the season, making the 2013-14 BGSU team just the second in school – and MAC – history to reach the 30-win plateau.
Halfhill shot 43.8% (7-of-16) from three-point range in the two wins, scoring 18 points in each game. Halfhill scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half of the St. Bonaventure game, adding four assists in that win. Against Michigan, she played all 40 minutes of a game for the first time in her career, and hit a game-high four three-point field goals.
On the season, Halfhill averaged 13.2 points per game, good for second on the team. She made 73 three-pointers to lead the Falcons, and she led the MAC in three-point field-goal percentage (42.4%). As of Monday evening, Halfhill ranked 15th in the nation in that category. She also led the Falcons in assists (3.1 apg) and minutes played (32.4 mpg) in her senior season.
Halfhill and the Falcons ended the season with a 30-5 record, after a 55-50 loss to Rutgers on Monday night (March 31) at the Stroh Center. Halfhill's second-half three-pointer was the number-three highlight on ESPN SportsCenter's Top Plays that evening.
In the classroom, Halfhill maintains a 3.42 cumulative grade-point average as an accounting major.
Halfhill ended her career with totals of 932 points, 266 assists and 127 three-pointers made as a Falcon.
