Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the Academic All-MAC team for swimming and diving today. Bowling Green's Jordan Bullock and Joelle Scheps were named to the team, and seven other Falcons earned honorable mention status.
Bullock, who holds a 3.38 grade point average in pre-medicine, was second team All-MAC as a sophomore during the past season. She placed fifth at the MAC Championships in the 200 butterfly and advanced to the championship final in the 400 individual medley, finishing eighth. Bullock also placed 11th in the 200 individual medley. She posted six top-two finishes in the 200 butterfly in dual meets during the season and added three second-place finishes in the 200 IM.
Scheps, who boasts a 4.0 grade point average in individualized business, was also second team All-MAC after a strong MAC Championship meet. She was fourth in the 200 freestyle and seventh in the 200 individual medley. Scheps was also part of the 400 freestyle relay team that broke the school record and finished second. She also set the school record in the 800 freestyle relay at the MAC Championships. She was 4-0 in the 200 IM in dual meets during the season as well.
Along with those two, seven other Falcons were named honorable mention All-MAC. They were Stephanie Boyle, Kayla Effinger, Nicole Hranchook, Erica Nieminen, Alexandra Poitinger, Haley Roberts and Carmen Young.
The Academic All-MAC honor is given to student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have a least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
