Bowling Green, Ohio – Junior Becca Rae and senior Greg Black paced the Falcon cross country teams, as they hosted the annual Mel Brodt Collegiate meet Friday evening.

Rae placed as the team's top finisher in the 5,000-meter race (eighth overall) for the second meet in a row, clocking in at 17:58.44. Sophomore Mackenzie McMillin was right behind Rae, finishing in ninth with a time of 18:04.42.

Junior Amanda Garlak and redshirt junior Andrea Alt were in uniform for the Falcons for the first time in 2014 and placed 13 and 14, respectively. Not far behind them, in 16 and 17, was redshirt freshman Allison Francis and sophomore Brent Darah. Francis had a personal best time of 18:29.18, beating her previous best by over 15 seconds.

The spread between the team's first and eighth runners (including unattached freshmen Rachel Walny and Elena Lancioni) was just 35 seconds. One year ago at the Mel Brodt, the spread from first to eighth was 1:11.

In the men's race, Black placed fifth overall in the 8,000-meter distance with a time of 26:40.71. This was Black's first meet of the season. Freshmen Nick Voth and Travis Jex followed in 11 and 12 place, running their first ever 8K for the Falcons. Junior Jeremy Richard placed 14 with a time of 27:51, which beats his time from the 2013 Mel Brodt Collegiate by nearly 20 seconds.

BGSU returns to action in Cedarville, Ohio for the All-Ohio Championships Oct. 3.
