Swim and Dive Starts Season With Intrasquad Meet
September 23, 2014 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Bowling Green, Ohio – The BGSU Swimming and Diving team opens the 2014-15 season with a home intrasquad meet Sept. 26 at 3:30 p.m in Cooper Pool at the newly renovated Student Recreation Center.
For the first time since 2009, the program will field a diving program. Friday's Orange and Brown meet will allow the divers to compete from the 1-meter height. Following the scrimmage, the divers will not compete at the Tom Stubbs Relays.
All home BGSU swim and dive meets will now have free live results via Meet Mobile, an online app that can be downloaded for iPhone, iPad or iPad Touch on the AppStore or for Android on Google Play.
The Falcons return 17 swimmers and add nine newcomers, including three divers, to a team that finished third at the Mid-American Conference Championships in 2014. Now that renovations on the Student Recreation Center are nearly complete, BGSU will host seven home meets in 2014-15, two of which are exhibition contests. Last season, the team was only able to host one regular season meet.
Head Coach Petra Martin enters her fifth season as the head coach, while Alex Gauvin joins the staff as the dive coach. Assistant coach Michael Shelby returns for his fourth season with the team.
Fans attending the meet are asked to park in Lot 10 at the BGSU Ice Arena, then enter the Student Recreation Center through the main entrance on the west side of the building.
