Buffalo Slated Next For Falcon Swim And Dive

Bowling Green, Ohio – Coming off a big win against the defending MAC Champions, the Bowling Green swim and dive team travel to New York this weekend to take on Buffalo Jan. 31.

Head Coach Petra Martin: "We are looking forward to hitting the road and testing our racing in a different environment. Buffalo is a tough team and there will be some great racing going on Saturday."
UNBEATEN STREAK CONTINUES
The Falcons have won 13 consecutive dual meets dating back to last season, and sit undefeated at 8-0 this season in dual meets. BGSU has now far exceeded its dual meet win total from a year ago. The Falcons also sit at 18th in the Mid-Major rankings heading into the back half of the season.
LAST TIME OUT
BGSU wrapped up their home meet schedule Jan. 23 on the Falcons' senior day, defeating the defending Mid-American Conference champions, Akron 167-132. The team started off strong, winning five of the meets first seven events, and 10 out of 16 events overall. This included a sweep of the top three spots in the 200 freestyle. Three different BGSU swimmers won two individual events, while two freshmen each won one of their own.
GRIFFIN DOMINATES THE FREE
It hasn't taken long for Victoria Griffin to make her mark in the Mid-American Conference. The sophomore has earned MAC Swimmer of the Week honors seven times in her two seasons it Bowling Green, most recently for her performances in the team's victory over Akron Jan. 23. Griffin still remains undefeated in the 50 freestyle this season.
INDIVIDUAL MAC RANKINGS
According to collegeswimming.com, four Falcons are currently ranked in the top three of the MAC in their respective events. Estela Davis ranks second in the 200 backstroke and 400 individual medley, Maria Galic ranks third in the 100 backstroke and Daniela Carrillo is ranked second in the 200 breaststroke. Griffin is currently ranked number one in the 100 freestyle and second in the 50 and 200 freestyle.
PRESEASON RANKINGS
BGSU was picked to finish third in the Mid-American Conference for the 2014-15 season, according to the preseason coaches' poll. The Falcons are ranked behind defending MAC champion Akron (ranked 2nd) and MAC runner-up Miami (ranked 1st).
