Falcons Are Prepared For MAC Championships

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's and women's cross country teams will be competing at the MAC Championships Saturday, hosted by the University of Akron.
ABOUT MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The MAC Championships will be held Saturday at Canton GlenOak Community Park in Canton, Ohio. The men's 8,000-meter race will begin at 11 am and the women's 6,000-meter heat will follow at 12 pm. For more information CLICK HERE.

LAST TIME OUT
The BGSU men's and women's cross country teams last traveled to Louisville, Ky. to compete in Pre-Nationals Oct. 17. The race was held at Tom Sawyer State Park with the women running a 6K and the men an 8K.
The women's team placed 39th overall out of 45 schools, all of which were regionally ranked, as well as some nationally. The top five runners for the women's team were redshirt freshman Rachel Walny, senior Becca Rae, redshirt junior Mackenzie McMillin, redshirt senior Andrea Alt and redshirt sophomore Allison Francis.
The men's team went up against 36 teams with more than half of the teams having regional rankings. As a team, Bowling Green placed 24th. The top five runners for the men were redshirt sophomore Nathan Kuck, freshmen Jonathan Wenning and Jonathan Anderson, sophomore Kohl Taberner and freshman Noah Schaub. Kuck, Wenning, Anderson and Taberner all recorded personal best times.
WALNY WOWS
Walny, who was named Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week, once again finished first for the Falcons and 20th overall at Pre-Nationals. She recorded a personal best time of 20:28.1. Walny was the top Mid-American Conference finisher at the race, defeating the top runners from Western and Eastern Michigan.
KUCK KICKING UP DUST
Kuck placed first for the Falcons and 32nd overall with a time of 24:47.4, a new personal best, at the Pre-Nationals meet. He improved upon his previous personal record set at the All-Ohio Championships by one minute.
REGIONAL RANKINGS
In the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings, released Monday, the BGSU women's cross country team remained No. 9 in the Great Lakes Region for the third straight week – this is the highest ranking in Lou Snelling's tenure at BGSU.
MAC RANKINGS
In the MAC preseason poll the BGSU women's cross country team was ranked fourth. The Falcons return seven of the team's top eight finishers from last season. The men were selected ninth by the coaches.
