The 1995 MAC Champion men's and women's cross country teams will be honored at the BGSU football game versus UMass during the first quarter break Saturday.
The 1995 women's team won a MAC Championship with a record-low 21 points and a 72-point margin of victory (largest ever). The team also won the All-Ohio Championship, also with a record-low 21 points, scored a perfect 15 points at the Tom Evan's Invitational and Mel Brodt Invite, finished first in all but three meets and was the first MAC women's team to qualify for the NCAA Championship. The Falcons posted a 6-0 dual record, ranked as high as third in the district and finished the season ranked 19th in the nation.
The 1995 men's team also won a MAC Championship, placed in the top three of all but one meet, and had a 5-1 dual record. The Falcons ranked as high as fourth in District IV and ranked as high as 31st in the nation.
"We are excited to honor such an accomplished group of Falcons," current BGSU coach Lou Snelling said. "The '95 squads were the last to win a MAC team cross country championship on both the women's and men's sides. Coach Sid Sink and Coach Steve Price are legends for what they were able to accomplish at Bowling Green."
