November 23, 2015 | Women's Golf
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team and head coach Stephanie Young are excited to announce the additions of Brooke Nolte (Melissa, Texas/Melissa H.S.) and Jessica Madry (Houston, Texas/William B. Travis H.S.) who signed their National Letters of Intent to continue both their academic and athletic careers at BGSU beginning in the fall of 2016.
"We are thrilled to add Brooke and Jessica to the BGSU Women's Golf program. They are outstanding additions to our family," stated Coach Young. "Brooke and Jessica are talented student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom, but even more so, they are remarkable young women. They are two of the most driven, hardworking, passionate athletes I have been around."
Nolte comes to BGSU from Melissa, Texas where she will begin her fourth year on the varsity golf team at Melissa High School this upcoming spring. A four-time team captain, Nolte is a three-time regional champion, a three-time district champion and has been named to the Texas All-State First-Team in each of the last three years in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Named the Melissa H.S. MVP over each of the last three years, Nolte has recorded three top-10 finishes at the state championship tournaments with a fifth-place finish in both 2013 and 2015, and an eight-place showing in 2014.
Nolte, who plans to study sport management at BGSU, helped her Cardinals team to three straight District Championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and also was key in her team becoming the regional champions in both 2013 and 2014. She also recently was crowned the 2015 City of Dallas Junior Champion and posted a fourth-place finish at the MentalApp Battle @ The Bridges in October with a 54-hole score of 221 and a fifth-place showing at The Tradition at Hurricane Creek in July with a 36-hole score of 149.
"Brooke Nolte has extensive tournament experience and knows what it takes at the next level. She has a great understanding of the game and a remarkable passion to play the game and compete," Young said.
Also heading north to Bowling Green, Ohio from Texas is Madry who is entering her fourth year on the varsity golf team at William B. Travis High School in Houston in 2015-16. A team captain this year as a senior, Madry has led her team to three straight regional championship tournaments with three straight second-place team finishes at the District Championship Tournament in 2013, 2014 and 2015. She recorded a second-place finish overall at the District Championship Tournament in 2014 as a sophomore in which she was also named the team's Most Improved golfer on the season.
Madry won the 2015 Houston Golf Association (HGA) Sweetwater CC Tournament and the 2015 HGA Hearthstone CC Tournament this past summer, and currently sits in third-place overall in the 2015 Houston Golf Association points ranking. She also took second-place in the 15-18 age division and fourth-place overall in the 15-24 age division at the Eddie Burke Senior Young Houstonian Tournament this year. Madry finished in third-place overall in the Greater Houston City Junior Match Play Championship in 2015.
With intentions to become a neurologist after college, Madry is a member of the Science National Honors Society, the National Honors Society, and the A/B Honor Roll all four years, and was awarded the Academic Excellence Award all four years of her high school career. She is also a member of the Spanish Club.
Recognized with the 2015 Certificate of Achievement: Outstanding Student in Golf Class award, Madry is a member of The First Tee of Greater Houston at F.M. Law Park and the Houston Golf Association, and is the President of the Junior Advisory Committee.
"Jessica Madry has an outstanding resume of tournaments and success. She has an amazing passion and work ethic that will undoubtedly lead to success at the collegiate level," commented Young.
"Brooke and Jessica are also incredibly generous and thankful for every opportunity they encounter. All of these qualities are going to be contagious on the BGSU campus, in our golf locker room, and out in the BG community," Coach Young continued. "I know this class is going to make a lasting impact for our university- they really have already begun to bleed brown and orange. You won't find two individuals more excited to be Falcons! And we are delighted that they have chosen to invest their future in BGSU."
