Thirteen Falcons Named to Academic All-MAC Team

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team set a program record with ten Academic All-MAC members, easily the most in the conference, and the men's team added three runners of their own, as announced by the Mid-American Conference Tuesday afternoon.
Seniors Becca Rae and Amanda Garlak, redshirt seniors Andrea Alt and Jasmine Redman, redshirt junior Mackenzie McMillin, junior Allison Francis, sophomore Elena Lancioni, redshirt sophomores Jody Musser and Rebecca Schott and redshirt freshman Rachel Walny all earned a spot on the All-MAC team.
Among MAC schools, Bowling Green's 10 Academic All-MAC members were three more than any other program. Eastern Michigan and Miami had seven members each, while Central Michigan and Kent State both had six student-athletes named to the team.
On the men's side, sophomores Kohl Taberner and Nick Voth and redshirt sophomore Nathan Kuck were named to the team.
Alt holds a 4.000 grade point average in the mathematics master's program. She was one of the top five runners for the Falcons this season and competed in five of BG's contests. Alt's best race was at the Paul Short Run where she placed 69th with a time of 21:47. As one of the top runners at the MAC Championships and NCAA Regionals she helped the team accomplish the best results since 2000 (MAC) and 1998 (Regionals).
Francis has a 3.761 grade point average in history. The redshirt sophomore competed in five of BG's contests this fall. Francis' best race this season was at Pre-Nationals where she finished 248th with a time of 22:04.2.
Garlak holds a 3.714 grade point average in psychology. She raced in three of six contests for BG this fall. Garlak's best race this season was at the MAC Championships where she finished 70th with a time of 23:15.2.
Lancioni has a 3.862 grade point average in pre-exercise science. She was one of the top five runners for the Falcons this season and competed in all six of BG's contests. Lancioni's best race this season was at the Paul Short Run where she finished 95th with a time of 22:00. As one of the top runners at the MAC Championships and NCAA Regionals she helped the team accomplish the best results since 2000 (MAC) and 1998 (Regionals).
McMillin holds a 3.811 grade point average in biology. The redshirt junior was one of the top five runners for the Falcons this season and competed in all six of BG's contests. McMillin earned All-MAC honors at the Mid-American Conference Championships, claiming 10th with a time of 21:33.0. McMillin improved her personal best 6,000-meter time by eleven seconds since last season. As one of the top runners at the MAC Championships and NCAA Regionals she helped the team accomplish the best results since 2000 (MAC) and 1998 (Regionals).
Musser holds a 3.877 grade point average in communication disorders. She raced in three of six contests for BG this fall. Musser's best race this season was at the Mel Brodt where she finished 27th with a time of 20:03.3.
Rae has a 3.761 grade point average in communications disorderse. She was one of the top five runners for the Falcons this season and competed in all six of BG's contests. Rae shaved time off of her 5,000-meter and 6,000-meter personal best times this fall.
Redman holds a 3.644 grade point average in human movement sport leisure studies. She was one of the top five runners for the Falcons this season and competed in four of BG's contests. Redman's best race was at the Paul Short Run where she placed 95th with a time of 22:00. As one of the top runners at the MAC Championships and NCAA Regionals she helped the team accomplish the best results since 2000 (MAC) and 1998 (Regionals).
Schott has a 3.898 grade point average in health sciences. She competed in five of six of BG's contests this fall. Schott's best race was at the Paul Short run where she finished 101st with a time of 22:03, improving her personal best 6,000-meter time by two minutes.
Walny holds a grade point average of 4.000 in pre-exercise science. The redshirt freshman had a very successful season wearing the Orange and Brown. She led the Falcons in every meet, while breaking personal best times at almost every contest. Walny was named Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year and earned All-Region honors at the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals. She was named MAC Runner of the Week twice for her performances at the Spartan Invitational and Pre-Nationals.
Kuck has a 3.907 grade point average in exercise science. He has been BGSU's top men's finisher all season and continued to improve with every race. Kuck improved his personal best 8,000-meter time by a total of three minutes since last season. He also improved his personal best 10,000-meter time by two minutes at NCAA Regionals.
Taberner holds a 3.777 grade point average in political science. He competed in five of six contests this fall. At the MAC Championships he captured a new personal 8,000-meter best time of 25:45.61 ending 29th. Taberner assisted in the team's best results at the MAC Championships since 2000 and the best result at regionals since 2011.
Voth has a 4.00 grade point average in pre-exercise science. He competed in all six of BG's contests this fall. Voth posted a personal best 8,000-meter time of 26:08.17 at the All-Ohio Championships, improving his time by a minute since last season.
