Women's Soccer Shows Continued Improvements Under Basalyga

Bowling Green, Ohio -- The BGSU women's soccer team concluded its season last Thursday with a 2-1 win against Eastern Michigan. The Falcons finished with a record of 7-11-1 overall and 3-8-0 in the conference.

- The Falcons posted seven overall wins this season, which is more than the previous two years combined. BG totaled four wins in 2014 and zero in 2013.
- This year, Bowling Green tied for eighth overall in the Mid-American Conference, improving from 10th place last season and 12th place in 2013.
KEY WINS
- Bowling Green snapped two series' losing streaks this season, recording its first wins since 2011 over defending MAC Champion Buffalo and conference foe Eastern Michigan.
- The victory on Aug. 21 against Chicago State was the team's first win in a season opener since 2004.

- Under head coach Lindsay Basalyga, the Falcons have increased wins, goals and assists each year she has been at the helm of the program.
- BGSU notched 29 goals this season, more than the last two seasons combined, after scoring 15 in 2014 and nine in 2013. The 29 goals scored is the most in a single season since 2008 (38).
- 28 assists on the season is more than the previous two years combined (21).
- The team posted four shutouts each of the last two seasons under Basalyga.
- Bowling Green opened the season 2-0-0 for the first time since 2000.
- It is the first time in school history the Falcons have shut out its first two opponents. BG defeated Chicago State 4-0 and IPFW 3-0 at Cochrane Stadium.
- Following the team's first two home games, BGSU had recorded seven goals, which was already more than the five goals the team scored at home a year ago. The Falcons finished with 18 home goals, the most since 2008.
- For the first time since 2008, the Falcons netted a goal in seven straight contests, spanning from Aug. 21 against Chicago State to Sept. 13 against Valparaiso.
- 30 goals allowed this season is the least allowed since 2009 (28).
- BGSU scored 12 MAC goals this season, the most conference goals since 2010 where the team sored 16.
- The Orange and Brown had a record-setting crowd of 803 at the season opener against Chicago State.
INDIVIDUALS
- The top three leading scorers (Erica Hubert, Mikaela Couch, Skylar Fleak) are all freshmen and sophomores. Four out of the team's top six goal scorers are also underclassmen.
- Erica Hubert's team-high 17 points was the most by a single player in a season since Alyssa Zuccaro recorded 22 in her stellar 2010 campaign.
- Erica Hubert's team-high eight goals was the most by a single player in a season since Alyssa Zuccaro totaled eight goals in 2010.
- Skylar Fleak and Mikaela Couch's team-high five assists are the both by a single player since Alyssa Zuccaro's six in 2010.
- Erica Hubert was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week in August and Lauren Cadel was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week in September and October.
- Lauren Cadel posted over 100 saves for the third straight year, leading the conference with 113 regular season saves in 2015.
- Lauren Cadel set a school record this season with 19 saves in BGSU's double-overtime draw with Valparaiso.
- Lauren Cadel sits atop of the record books with 15 career games with double digit saves.
